Of course, on one side is Iran, but on the other side of the Strait is UAE and Musandam, an exclave of Oman.
Why can Iran just blockade it without the permission of UAE and Oman? |

| Iran isn't going to block it because 1. They don't have the capability to do so 2. If they somehow did, they'd be getting a visit from US fighter jets within a few minutes |

Just like UK controls Strait of Gibraltar
they don't not care, if any was something against it, they would have to fight for it or ask for help. |

| Considering the F-18 Hornet on the USS John C Stennis has a speed 1,190 MPH, it could easily reach Hormuz within minutes. |

| Yeah I can not help but notice all that the carreir you are referring to only has fighter squadrons and electronic warfare. don't see any attackers. |

"Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 8" "Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71"
The ship also has cannons and stuff, but that's implied. |

Yeah, thoare.
I don't think the carrier or helicoptesr have a speed of 1,190 MPH.
So your previous point is separate from the first. |

They would not send fighter/bombers miles away from the aircraft carrier to bomb ships that no doubt have AA's.

| The Hornets on the carrier could launch attack missions if required to. |

My point is they would try to risk as few casualties as possible.
So they would either
A.Send Anti-ship Cruise missiles, for a quick response. B.Wait for the Carrier to get there.
They would not send fighters there with no support. |

| Hornets aren't just fighters. Their designation refers to them as Fighter/Attack aircraft. |

| If they are fighters and attack aircraft, you can have half serve as escorts with the other half making an attack. So, you have supported attack aircraft that can get there in minutes. Attacking within five minutes will cause fewer casualties than waiting for more units to come in to the attack. |

How far away would you define "miles away"? |
