I say it "bool - een", but I've heard some people call it "bool - ee - an". Which is correct?

Well, in my head, (since I don't know anyone outside of roblox who I can converse with about Lua) I pronounce it "bool - ee - an".

BUT

That's just me.

What language does it derive from if you pronounce is "bool-ee-an", when "ea" in English is pronounced as "ee"?

"What language does it derive from if you pronounce is "bool-ee-an", when "ea" in English is pronounced as "ee"?"

It's someone's (George Boole's) name, which is pronounced "Bool". So it's of or relating to the work of Bool, thus ends in the sound "ian"

His name was "Boole"
The "an" is just like the suffix of American.

It's not "bool ean"

Well, when you're speaking English, pronounce it /ˈbo͞olēən/, and when you're speaking another language, pronounces it as they do.

(also, the spelling is "language" and "pronounces")

If I'm alone, I pronounce it like "buhl" in the sort of "accent" of a man of African descent who has grown up in the southern reaches of the United States.

I use to pronounce it bool-een, but my math teacher started talking about Boolean math, and I learned how to correct pronounce it.

I pronounce it "bool-een". I don't really care if that isn't how it is meant to be pronounced.
