Drew[Insert Numbers Here] made a guide for weapon building. Here it is:
DREW8732'S WEAPON GUIDE
WARNING: Slight experience with ROBLOX Studio is needed to fully understand this tutorial.
1.First off, be inspired! Every good item comes with a good idea! I'm am going to be showing you the most common way that people make rather detailed guns; and this method is called minimapping. Please note I am not showing you here how to make the guns that have reload animations. Now, first thing you must do is build a HUGE model of a gun. I advise using studio. Make sure everything is paused, though you will need to play it a one point. When building this huge gun model, called a template, first start off with a handle and a barrel. Be sure to name the part the player holds the weapon by "Handle." Be sure to capitallize it.
2.Once your template is complete, go into Free Models and get what's called a minimap script. This is what shrinks your gun down to a legitimate size. If you look into the script, you will see a line that says "Scale: 1/20" You can change the scale to whatever you please, I suggest 1/20 or 1/18. Now hit the "Play button." Once you see your minimap form, re-pause the game. The minimap should spawn in the middle of your place. BE SURE YOU ARE WORKING ON AN EMPTY BASEPLATE. Now be sure to save your template. You don't have to save it to your computer, but at least publish it. Now you have what is going to become your gun. Now, your minimap will be within a grouping of your minimap and your template, at least with my minimap script. Drag your minimap into Workspace and delete the minimapped baseplate. Now go and insert a tool: Insert>Object>Tool. You may need to copy and paste the minimap into the tool.
3.Now that you have your tool, name it. Just think of what gun's names are like; you can name it anything from "T6Y8-9GJDYR7JDUF9" to "N7." Now you look into your tool's properties, there will be a property called "GripPosition." The most common one I end up with is 20, 0, 0, but you can tweak it if it doesn't look right to you. Now you need to weld your weapon, which you can look into on the wiki or here on the forums. Then take some scripts from whatever gun you want it so fire like, be sure not to use a gun's scripts that have a reload function, it's a waste of time. Now your gun should be all ready! Go to Tools>Test>Play Solo and check out your weapon! |
