Ok, sorry for the off-topic question, but you all are probably most likely to have an answer for this.
I'm trying to hook up my PC (laptop Windows 7) to the HDTV in my living room. The TV is an older model and does not have any inputs for my PC, so I bought a converter box to convert a VGA signal to an RGB component signal. I got it to show up, but the edges of my desktop extend beyond the TV screen on all 4 sides. The TV is a Mitsubishi 48" HDTV 1080i. What can I do to fix this problem? Please let me know if you need to know more specs about my PC or the TV. |

I did, none of the available resolutions fit. I was looking online, and it seems I have to change the aspect ratio. I can't figure out how to do it on the TV, so how can I change it on my PC?

Well the aspect ratio is X pixels compared to Y pixels so 800X600 would be 4:3 then there is widescreen which has a ratio of 16:9 one of those would help you I don't know which Cause I don't know your TV or computer screen.

I know what aspect ratio is, however I don't have a clue on how to change it.

I would think it would be in resolution on the computer. Depending on your display you may not be able to pick the right size though.

On my computer, i had to go to the gpu whatever software and select some option or something so that it fits the image to the screen size, even though i had set the resolution. (as there was black space on each edge :c)
