| Ehhh... I think there's a way to transfer from 5.1 to 5.2 without breaking user made scripts. |

Stravant has already posted in this thread, I sense an inevitable contradiction to this statement coming from him. I've seen his explanation of it before, and simply put: the effort the Roblox devs would have to put into implementing Lua 5.2 while retaining the current API and functionality greatly outweigh the benefits of having Lua 5.2 implemented at all. Sure, it may provide some nice features and optimizations, but they'd probably be destroyed in the process of Roblox reworking the whole Lua VM to work the way they need it to. |

| What does Lua 5.2 offer that we would need direly and can't make ourselves, in some form or another? |

"What does Lua 5.2 offer that we would need direly and can't make ourselves, in some form or another?"
Nothing, but if you follow that logic, we could as well remove half of the Lua libraries (math, table, string, etc) and half of the ROBLOX API, as we can do all of these things already.
In fact, we could remove almost everything in ROBLOX Lua, if we follow your logic.
Just because we can already do something doesn't mean there shouldn't be a more optimized way or an easier way to do it. |

I think Builderman already settled this matter before.
Let me remind you, 'We've got to have more money.' |
