Most elections are won by outsiders joining a clan and voting, barely any of the dedicated members choose who they want, it's pretty much chosen for them by outsiders [especially if they hold the election in C&G]. So I came up with a solution a few months ago to solve this, but it was like 4AM and I never got many replies and I can't find it anymore so yes :(
High rank elections:
Set the group to request only and accept nobody until the election is over, remove all accepting powers for High ranks and then that's it, pretty simple.
Leader elections:
The group should be set to request only and nobody should be promoted or accepted until after the election. Then have 8 people list the names of everyone on the first page of every rank down, if there is a change in the list, then it means somebody has been accepted during the elections, the reason for listing all the ranks is because a leader may try to promote his supporters to random ranks to cover up [noob]. Anyway these rules can be put in place so the leader can be spammed with messages about how he has no internet honour if he decides to break them.

This is aimed mainly at groups like UAF and NFC, I'd say atleast 3/4 of their elections have a candidate who won majority vote due to outsiders.

@Squid Yeah I had this in another tab like 4 hours ago and went off to play some steam games, came back, browsed a bit and found this then published it, then realised it was 1AM and was like "fu east coast"

Wow, this is actually a good way to hold elections.
If I ever make a fully democratic clan, this is the way I am holding elections. |

| I've thought about similar ideas before. A simpler solution than taking a "Rank Check" is just to freeze promoting powers, since afterall, the elections should be being run by the Owner. |
