Welcome fellow robloxians. Today, I will tell you how to use the overwelming (not) EDIT mode. Not all the buttons are useful, some of them freezes your game... so stay away from some of them.. ___________________________________________________________________________ Explorer: The first thing you should know about explorer is that it's where the game pretty much is. Where all your models are, where all your lighting is, where all the GUIs are. To get Explorer, click View -> Explorer. Be sure to have properties out too, click View -> Properties.
Workspace: Workspace is where you keep all of your models, scripts, leaderboards. When you insert a script or model into your game, it always goes to workspace (Unless it's a gear, it goes into StarterPack). In workspace you can edit your models, scripts, etc. Click on your model, and in properties, you should see a whole bunch of things. Here you can change the color, size, position, etc. Scripts, well all you need to do is go into workspace, then click on the script you inserted (twice, duh?) Then it should show up a page that blocks your game. This is where you create scripts or edit them. Workspace is where you keep all the game's script (EX: Leaderboard, Game Script itself (Minigames, Hide and Seek, Diasters, etc). But don't think you put all the scripts in here. You could put some into your weapons which will go into StarterPack.
Lighting: It's pretty much what it says. The lighting. Day or night, but lighting isn't always used for the lighting. Some clever robloxians use it for keeping unused model, until a game script summons them into Workspace. If you put a model into Lighting, you won't see it or touch it. Epic? Indeed. Such as Diaster Scripts, you put the diaster into lighting, and when the script magicly summons it into Workspace, it goes into the exact spot you cut and pasted it into Lighting. Epic Sauce!
StarterGUI: What the heck is this you say? Graphical user interface. It's the thing that pops up on games. Like your HP, or some games have shops that you can click on your screen. GUIs are used on every online game.. most of the time. 70% of good game shave GUIs in ROBLOX. So what's the starter part of it? StarterGUI is pretty much what pops up on your screen right when you spawn. Awesome! How do I make a GUI then? You go into Insert -> Object (or Service, I forgot) -> (Their are a bunch of GUI stuff. Like 3 :P, read the title, you should be able to see what they mean...and like I said, I forgot). To edit GUIs, look for another Forum or Youtube, I'm not gonna type all that information xD. You could also use FREE MODELS (OMG FREE MODELS SUX! NOOB! JK, You'll see why some people might say some of these mean stuff later on into the guide. To use free models, look more into the guide. Well their you have it, thats pretty much what StarterGUI is.
StarterPack: I've seen alot of games use givers, because they don't know how to start with the tool. StarterPack is the future guys and gals. If you put a gear in here, you get that gear when you spawn. Also, when you insert a gear in EDIT mode, the gear goes straight to StarterPack (If it shows a message after you click on the gear). Pretty epic? I know... Cya Givers, and hello StarterPack
Don't worry about the rest of Explorer. Trust me. ___________________________________________________________________________ Buttons: The buttons on top of the screen are another way to change the properties of a model. Some of them are atleast. Ill talk about the important ones one by one. And please, the one's I tell you not to touch, might make ROBLOX not respond on your computer. So please, don't touch it. Ill be telling you in a staight line what the buttons do.
Whats new? New is making a new game, that cannot be uploaded to ROBLOX if you don't have a spot open. Open, opening a place that you saved in a folder. Save, saving a place in a folder. Cut, cutting a model, sorta like deleting. Copy, copying a model. Paste, pasting a model. Undo, going back to the last step you did (ONLY WORKS FOR EDIT, HIP HIP HORRRAY!) Redo, doing what you undid. Group, grouping bricks into one model (This can be used to reduce lag, group all of your models into one). Ungroup, ungrouping a model into seperate bricks. Rotate, turning a brick or model. Tilt, putting a model or brick into a degree that makes it look like it's tilting. Move up, moving a model up a brick (or something like that). Move down, moving a model down a brick. Run, when your on EDIT mode, your game freezes so no scripts can be done and mess up your game. When you click run, it makes the game play like what would happen if you were there. Pause, pauses the game or freezes. Reset, (I have no clue sorry :/ I'll reply to my thread as fast as I can). Move Parts, moving a part a brick or 1000 :P. Just moving a brick or model, not c-framing though. Rotate Part, pretty much what I said about Rotate. Resize Part, Changing the size of a brick. (not a whole model) **Do not click the 3 magnets! They usually freeze your game!!** Don't click Manual Joints either, they do the same. About those 2 above, I don't know what their for, if you do, please reply :P, but just for now, don't click them... they freeze your precious game. TOOLBOX, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART FOR ME IN EDIT MODE, This amazing tool allows you to insert models, bricks, spawns, everything from a gun, to a noob falling off a building. DO NOT... I REPEAT... DO NOT USE FREE-MODELS UNLESS YOU ARE TICKED OFF BY SOMETHING. **Free Models** People hate people that use this because, most of the time people don't give credits and it's not their creation. People will call you noob and sometimes free models contain viruses or haxs that makes your place useless. (darn noobs!) You could prevent this by not using free models or using a anti-hack script. (You must edit it if the hack has a diff name) Toolbox is epic sauce x3! Drag, dragging a model anywhere you want, or brick. Move on Axis, Moving a model in a straight line. Resize, Like what I said above. Lock, Darn ROBLOX, you gave away the answer before me Anchor, Haha real funny... Fill with Color, changing the color of the brick. Pick color, choose a color of a brick you want to use again. Change Material, change the material you used for the brick, such as slate, grass, ice. Smooth Surface, make a brick smooth (no glue, weld, connectors) Glue Surface, connects you on it (not sure :P) Weld, welding something. Keeping it together. Not sure about the next 3 :/ Hinge on Surface, making a hinge that allows a brick on the hinge rotate. Motor on Surface, allows a brick on it to spin around >:) ___________________________________________________________________________ Thats pretty much what you need to know... Other than using insert to insert bricks, models, services, objects. The file and edit are like all the other programs that have it... Figureing out the rest of mastering building, scripting is your job. Thanks for reading! Happy Holidays, or Thanks Giving.. what ever holiday it's near when your reading this. |

The other day my friend gave me a note and I was suppose to tell my teacher what was on the note. At first I thought it was some sort of code, but then I finished saying it to my teacher:
