He lowered the ticket prices, which is VERY smart of him to do. A sports teams makes more money off of concessions and merchandise than ticket prices. It's smarter of him to get butts in the seats instead of charging a bunch for ticket prices.
The nosebleed seats went from almost $20 to only $9 per seat.
That means I could go to more Stars games this year and beyond.
+ respect points for the new owner. |

| The "more for less, less for more" isn't defined as a smart buisness rule, it's defined as the most confusing one probably. |

It's really simple...
Higher ticket prices = less people = less concession/merch. money
Lower ticket prices = more people = more concession/merch. money
Hence why Jerry Jones charges a CRAPLOAD of money for food. |

I know I'll go to more games. Especially next year with all the teams coming. I'll go see the Caps (3rd favorite), Bruins (2nd favorite), Penguins, and a lot more. $9 to go to a hockey game is really affordable. |

He'd literally need people to spend roughtly twenty dollars on food to make up for that.
Those 9 dollars he's losing on a ticket PLUS the normal ammount of money spent on food. |

"ever went to a stars game ddude?"
PFFFFFT. LOL. YOU'RE JOKING. I've been to PLENTY of Stars games. I went to one game during every playoff series in '07.

More people will mean more food and merchandise, which makes up for it. The average attendance will probably be higher, so it makes up for the money he isn't charging for the food. |

| The attendance would need to double ATLEAST. Your logic is flawed. Most people are going to spend the same amount on food/merchandise regardless of ticket value |

Well, no duh they'll spend the same amount...there will be MORE PEOPLE per year, which means more money gained because of MORE PEOPLE.
But, I could see them raising the food prices at the AAC. |

Food prices are already through the roof.
Whats the average attendance last year compared to this year?
This Year: 11,469 Last Year: 15,073
Looks like Attendance is down to me. LOSING money.
11,469 x 9 = $103,221 15,073 x 20 = $301,460
200k Adds up. How many games are in a season? I don't follow the NHL. |

| Lol, good team play is what brings the fans. The marlins have cheap prices I went there on field trips for the past 2 or 3 years and it was like 15 dollars and we were close to 3rd base and the field box tickets are cheap as hell but the stadium is always empty (ESPN always mentions that in the highlights) because the team sucks but hopefully with all of these flashly players and the new stadium will change things. |

| The Stars aren't a terrible team either. They're always fighting for a playoff spot. The place is usually already pretty full when I go. |

Let's even this up.
11,469 x 9 = $103,221 11,469 x 20 = $229,380
Hot Dogs are always a good food to go with at a sporting event, eh?
So let's say you can get a hot dog for $3.50 at the $20 dollar ticket rate. Now lets have EVERYONE in the stadium buy a hot dog.
$3.50 x 11,469 = $40,141.50 + $229,380 (from attendance) = $269,521.50
Now, under the new ticket prices, they double the cost of Hot Dog (extremely unlikely) to $7 a hot dog
$7 x 11,469 = $80,283 + $103,221 = $183,504 That's lower than attendance
So here's the difference: $269,521.50 - $183,504 = $86,017.50
Obviously you gotta do this with all of foods (Popcorn, Soda, Nachos). Doubling food prices isn't going to help you. It's going to discourage you from buying. |

Ddude you forgot Dallas hasn't been a hockey town as of late. ====================================== I could really care less if we're a "hockey town".
I've always loved the Stars, and there's still a good turnout to most games.
@Tues
I could care less to read about all the number crunching. The price cuts are all over the arena, I'm guessing. The nosebleeds are just an example. |

| You could care less but isn't that what this thread is all about? You saying they will make more money because of ticket price cuts? |
