I'm open for ideas, but the roleplay will involve humans, and it'll take place in the 2200-2500s. And the game-world will probably be confined to the solar system only.
Well? |

| That's for people that head into this thread to decide. I really don't have any idea right now, because if I did I would be right on my way to typing the CS. |

| One tip: If you want to be realistic, make FTL impossible. I'm up for it. |

Since the playing field is only on an interplanetary level, that can be allowed. Sub-FTL could be acceptable by all means too.
I also want the various factions to be mainly human-based. One for Earth, Mars, etc, etc. |

| I like it. The thing is I like the realism; in reality at the very best interplanetary travel would take months; if not years. Spacecraft would, in theory, be only limited by the lightspeed barrier, therefore faster ships could arrive earlier. If a near-lightspeed ship could be built, you would only be limited by how much fuel you could carry in terms of interplanetary travel, since it compresses the time it takes to seconds or minutes, or at worst a few hours. |

(Sorry for the late reply, I was dragged to Wal-Mart with my parents.)
Well, keep in mind that even with sub-FTL technology, a travel from Earth to Jupiter with that kind of drive wouldn't take that long.
So, any idea of a faction for the various planets (Which I assume would have broken from Earth's control by then)? |

One thing- aliens that are bigger than a virus would never be able to live on a planet round here that is not earth or one of the odd moons. And many planets are balls of gas, and would not be sutible for humans or even a virus. |

Gas giants aren't initially habitable, no. But their moons are. As well, humans could easily plant gas-harvesting facilities high in the planet's atmosphere.
I'm considering taking xenos and the like out of the roleplay altogether, if no one minds. |

@Epic There are many animo acids in Saturn's atmosphere. It would not be impossible to imagine a being with massive bags of helium that floats in the upper atmosphere, where the radiation of the magnetosphere keeps it warm. |

Hmm, sounds like a plan.
I want Earth to be something of your average democracy, while Mars (Independent from the Democratic Terran Federation) is an industrial, military/dictatorship superpower. |

| Saturn and its moons could be Mars' puppet governments, forced to slave away at the asteroid fields to mine, refine and ship valuable resources. |

All right, let's get some names down.
The two main factions would be the Democratic Terran Federation (DTF for short) of Earth, while the Martian nation would be called the Arean State (Arean is derived from Ares, supposed God of War). |

| The asteroid fields could be inhabited by the robots - they're rogue AI. Originally mining drones that went haywire from solar storms and began to develop their own sentience. |

"Saturn is gas" You don't say. Robots don't need land. Just have massive generators that use winds as currents, and they are set. And I don't mean on kind of robot, I mean massive flying ones for Saturn, and Walking for the moons. |

| Neptune and its moons I imagine could be ruled by a corporate state. Venus would probably not be inhabitable unless serious measures were taken to decrease its atmosphere. Uranus, Pluto and the Kuiper Belt would be anarchy. |
