(Hooray)

This is Skazia. It is home to many races and creatures. You make descisions for your settlement, and adance through the eras. You start out as a small village, then grow to an empire.

NOTE

Basic fantasy medieval.

RULES

1. There is no advancing too much through the eras. So there are no guns or anything. I choose when to advance

2. I make the outcomes for your decisions.

3. Max 4 people can join. (Not including me)

4. No magic yet.

5. When kingdoms/villages react together, you can decide what to do. Like, accepting trades, ect. But I decide part of the outcome of battles. Like, I could say that Village no. 1 lost 5 soldiers, but you can decide whether to retreat or not. Like that.

6. No dragons, undead, demons or races that get too tribal. Orcs are OK.

Sorry...There isn't magic yet. You can create a settlement, get it advanced, then have a magic-based sub group in it.

Aww. Ok. I'm still a little bit confused about this whole amored troops thing. If you can't start with armor, then you just not use the armored units untill later?

The troops will just wear simple clothes and have weapons until they are equipped. If you can get a steady stream of materials going, fresh recruits will start with armor.

Gonna make another CS.

Name of Village: Fastarth

Race: Human, Non-Magical

Leader Name: The Crystal Council, named after the massive crystal chandelier that hangs in their meeting room

Leaders Description: A gathering of the town's wisest people, up to eight at a time. Currently has six.

Extra: Fastarth was the result of a massive pirate ship damaged and the crew abandoned on the shore. They turned to farming the land and using the ship as materials for building. They founded Fastarth nearby the shipwreck, of which the frame remains. Fastarth is set into a mountain not far from the shore, and is sandwiched between the sea and the mountain. Due to the plentiful stone gathered from the mountain, they have already erected a rudimentary stone wall. Unfortunately, there is little room to grow crops, as the other two sides of the town have the woods beyond them. There is a lot of wood, at least. And iron, a good deal of iron in the mountain. Their main food source is seafood and woodland food. Berries, roots, fish, oysters, and the like. There is a little room to grow enough wheat for bread, but that's about it. The lack of a source of fresh water means that they must be frequent trips to a nearby spring to fill the town well. The town itself is relatively empty, they intend the wall to stay as it is and therefore there is a lot of space between the house closest to the wall and the wall itself.

MILITARY

RANKING SYSTEM: Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, Master (Note: Titles are not used in speech, only in writing.)

TROOPS:

Tier 1 (Novice)

Peasants: Locals armed with whatever weapon is relatively long and pointy, and clothed in a simple tunic displaying the town crest. Minimal effectiveness in battle, but does well to fill gaps in an army.

Peasant Archers: Locals armed with a simple hunting bow and fire-hardened arrows, and a close-combat weapon if they can get their hands on one. They also wear a simple tunic displaying the town crest, and also a cloth hood. They cannot do well in a fight, and often flee. However, their bows will still cause havoc on unarmored targets.

Peasant Crossbowmen: In essence, the same as Peasant Archers, but using the deadlier and slower crossbow.

Town Militia: Recruits given basic drilling and weapon training, and armed with a iron-tipped spear with a shield of flimsy wood. They too display the crest on their tunics and their shields. Far better in quality than Peasants, but not dependable in a protracted battle.

Tier 2 (Apprentice) (Requires Blacksmith, Leather Tanner)

Sergeant Spearmen (Requires Quilted Armor): Recruits given extensive training and drilling, and armed with an iron-tipped spear with a kite-shield of wood reinforced with iron, armored in padded suits and given a light cap to keep the rain off. They display the town crest on their quilted armor and their shields. They are a massive step up past Town Militia and form the backbone of the army with their useful shields.

Armored Sergeants (Requires Chainmail): Hardened veterans garbed in fine chainmail and iron helmets and armed with a steel-tipped war spear, with the trademark kite-shield reinforced with iron. They display the town crest on their shields. These guys are no strangers to war, and so they are far more formidable than their companion Sergeant Spearmen.

Mounted Sergeants (Requires Horses): Soldiers given training on the basics of cavalry tactics and some time to get used to their horse. Unarmored, they can move fast and strike fast with their iron-tipped spears and defend with their kite-shields. If caught in the melee, they switch to using a close-combat weapon of their choice, usually a sword. They are good at dismantling enemy lines in a charge, but unlikely to survive if caught in close-combat.

Tier 3 (Coming Soon)

Your town has 35 people in it. 5 of them are Militia. You have 5 dwelling for peasantry, the council chamber, the granary. A fisherman's hut is near the ocean. Your people are healthy and there is a steady supply of food coming in, which will last for about a month.

35 people, eh?

Well, time to find an indefinitely lasting food source and other villages to bolster the population.

Arrange a scouting party of 5 Town Militia. Also draft 10 people into Peasants.

Arrange a generous food ration instead of letting people eat as much as they want.

(Everyone can automatically be peasants)

Some people grumble about it, but a ration is set.

The scouts leave.

...

When the scouts return, they have found a cave full of wild dogs. The cave may contain iron. One of the scouts was bitten as well.

INJURIES:

1 Town Militia- Bite wound on foot

(Ah, sorry. Due to a lack of finding other villages, a military seems unnecessary other then guards. However, as most animals that pose a threat can be domesticated, even these guards are rarely used.)

Tier 3 (Adept) (Requires Advanced Blacksmith, Leather Workshop, Archery Range, Drilling Square, Horse Stables)

Swordsmen (Requires Chainmail, Quilted Armor): Soldiers given extensive training and drilling, as well as weapons practice and tactics training for close-combat. Swordsmen are thickly padded in quilted armor and a chainmail shirt over the top, with a standard steel helm. Armed with a longsword and a buckler, these soldiers are best used flanking an enemy and attacking quickly, as their swords can eliminate many targets. They fare better than spearmen in close-combat, but if caught out in the open they become relatively useless. Cavalry just love beating these guys around.

Crossbowmen (Requires Chainmail, Quilted Armor): Dedicated militiamen who are given basic accuracy training and volley-firing practice to maximize efficiency in battle. They are armored the same as Swordsmen, though armed with a powerful crossbow for engaging long-range foes and a longsword for close-combat. Without close-combat training, they are still easy to dispatch once you make it past their bolt hails. Their powerful bolts are able to shear chainmail and bypass quilted or leather armor easily.

Border Horses (Requires Quilted Armor, Horses): Recruited and trained specifically for patrolling and keeping order at the boundaries of the land, they are fast moving and their armor gives them rudimentary protection. They are equipped only with a sword, and are trained with using one on horseback, so they become formidable close-combat opponents. Just don't expect them to charge straight into enemy lines and survive; their swords aren't cut out for that.

Voulgiers (Requires Chainmail, Quilted Armor): Voulgiers are trained to use their distinctive weapons against cavalry and infantry alike, as their not-a-spear-yet-not-a-pike-or-a-halberd weapon proves to be quite versatile. It's long enough to do damage against a charging horse, yet short enough to prove useful against short-ranged attackers. Armored in chainmail and quilted armor, they also have moderate durability in a battlefield. Lacking a shield, they are defenseless against arrows, more so as their voulges are still quite heavy.

Tier 4 (Expert) (Requires Armorer, Leather Workshop, Archery Range, Garrison, Horse Stables, Keep)

Forlorn Hope (Requires Heavy Plate Armor, Fine Steel Weapon) (Note, only trainable if no other military forces exist): Forlorn Hope soldiers are not trained, instead they are given the finest of weapons and armor and used as the last line of defense. Despite lacking training, they remain formidable opponents as they fight with desperation and with the advantage of superior equipment against their opponent.

Veteran Hammer Infantry (Requires Heavy Plate Armor, Fine Steel Weapon): Veteran Hammer Infantry are nigh indestructible with their massive metal tower shields and formidable steel warhammers, these soldiers are trained to a high standard and thus, coupled with their equipment, make them seriously effective defensive troops. Unfortunately, they're slow and their equipment is massively heavy, therefore they can't swim and often can't move faster than a slow jog, making them walking targets for ranged foes.

Longbowmen (Requires Plated Chainmail, Fine Steel Weapon): Longbowmen are veteran archers armed with the massive longbow, capable of long-range warfare past a common crossbow. Armored in chainmail reinforced with plates of steel, they are durable in close-combat using a buckler and longsword, but don't expect them to substitute for dedicated close-combat infantry.

Pavise Spearmen (Requires Pavise, Plated Chainmail): Pavise Spearmen are well-trained spearmen armed with a large pavise shield instead of a kite-shield, making them slower however more protected against arrows and whatnot, as the pavise is designed to cover a person's body. Armored in quality armor, they are effective against infantry and cavalry alike.

Pavise Crossbowmen (Requires Pavise, Plated Chainmail): Pavise Crossbowmen are veteran crossbowmen given better armor, a refresher course in training, and a thick pavise to wear on their back to cover them when reloading. They can remove this pavise and use it as a sort of a one-man wall for defense. They are also armed with a longsword and said pavise if things get ugly.

Tier 5 (Master) (Requires Advanced Armorer, Advanced Leather Workshop, Archery Range, Training Barracks, War Horse Stables, Citadel)

Merchant Cavalry (Requires Horses, Heavy Plate Armor, Fine Steel Weapon): Merchant Cavalry are not well trained, but make up for this in their quality armor and horse, as well as a finely-crafted weapon that can deal damage. Their lance can smash into enemy lines and destroy them utterly. However, their usefulness does not go beyond that role, as they lack a shield or a close-combat weapon.

Bodyguard Cavalry (Requires Horses, Decorative Heavy Plate Armor, Fine Steel Weapon): The absolute best of the best, these soldiers are as deadly on a horse as they are on the ground, and are armored and equipped with the best weapons. They go into battle wearing a specially designed suit of armor that looks nice and is easy to move in, yet deflects most weapons. They armor their horses in the same manner. Their weapons consist of a spiked kite-shield, a lance of the hardiest steel, a mace of steel, and a longsword of steel. Often, they crash into enemy lines, disengage, then proceed to fight on foot. Either way, they are devastating fighters. Their only problem is against ranged foes.
