Football - invented England in the 8th Century.
American Football - invented England in the 15th Century.
Yes, when the main rules of Rugby were made, that was the start of American Football. American Football was not invented. It evolved over a period of time, from 1874, for at over 30 years after the British troops took it over to America.
So, FOOTBALL IS THE PROPER NAME. AMERICAN FOOTBALL IS BASED ON THE ENGLISH MADE GAME OF RUGBY! So, America has us to thank for Football, Rugby and American Football. |

I don't really like the sport though.
Baseball is all I care about.
It's not a version of cricket though.
It was created as a variation of townball. |

Rugby and American Football is extremly different.
In Rugby there is little to no stopages and you can only latteral the ball.
In American Football, there is many stopages and forward passes are used. |

@123.
Yes, but the bone structure of American football was based on Rugby. Can't you read? It has evolved and made it it's own sport. |

It does root, but it turned into a whole different game. The structure has been altered intensly over the years.
And I read fluent English.

| The first College Football game in 1869 was very similar to Rugby. Eventually some guy named Walter Camp turned it into a different game around 10-20 years later. That's what became Gridiron Football. |
