Today, I went to grab a bowl of Tostitos chips. I found that the bag was almost empty. There was some cheddar cheese in the fridge, so I grated up some to make nachos.
Now, for anyone who has ever used plain cheese to make nachos will find that there is a problem. The top chips on a flat paper plate will get a lot of cheese on them after a trip through the microwave. The lower chips, however, will be rather bare. This ends up with an issue of some chips with too much cheese, and some with too little.
I notice this issue again with my plate of chips, and proceeded to think up solutions.
The better part of an hour later I had mixed cheese along with a few different ingredients I have lying around, such as a decoagulat chemical along with some different types of salsa (I like my Mexican food). I was trying to get the cheese to flow better, and melt down onto the lower chips. This didn't work very well, so I kept trying.
A friend of mine came over after he cleared out his entire driveway of snow to have some lunch. This was about 4 hours after the first batch. An explaination later, he was interested in my project, and trudged back to his house to grab a 'special ingredient' he had.
A little bit and another bad batch of melty cheese later, he came in with a jar. Spooning some out, he said to try this stuff.
I was amazed at how easily that cheese flowed over the chips in the microwave, and it was quite tasty.
That was when he showed me the jar. It was Nacho Cheese, the type of cheese I had completely forgotten about.
That was my day so far. |

Wow, for a second there I thought that some impersonator posted this thread when I first saw it...
And you're actually so right about the nachos getting no cheese at the bottom. But I usually use a dip instead. Easier that way. |
