Don't forget that we'd use Ogre, just like ROBLOX does, as well as some other free models ROBLOX uses. |

| I suggest we get a team of worthy programmers and set up a repo and see what we can do. |

Great idea.
Goal: Making an open source cross-platform IDE that produces .rbxl files. |

I agree with Tenal. C++ would be better.
We want it to be as least laggy as possible. And also, you'll probably want to use Ogre, considering it's what ROBLOX uses. And you can't use Ogre with Java. |

Ogre == yes
Therefore, C++ == yes |

| The only very difficult part would be to create a Roblox-like environment for testing and such. Ideally it would even need to have Roblox's bugs to simulate regular gameplay. |

| But it would be fun to give it a try. Shall I make a Google Code project or something? |

| Ye, but it supports Mercurial which, in my opinion, is awesome. |

| The trouble is that studio is just a thin-wrapper around the engine. In order to make studio you really have to make the entire game. |

@stravant
You are basically right, but we can ignore all the network stuff and all of that, which removes A LOT of work. |

@Flurite ROBLOX runs of C, if I'm not mistaken.
