So, you want to create a great place? A place so great, that every pro designer will find it in their favorites? This guide will teach you the veyr basics of ROBLOX studio, a much easier (Or at least for most people) way to develop places.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, first, I shoul tell you how to open studio. If you haven't opened it before, you can search "ROBLOX" on your computer, or go into a game in build mode, and turn it on from the settings in the bottom-left corner of the screen. I suggest opening it by itself for free movement.
At first, it may look a bit overwhelming. You have many more buttons, tabs, toolbar, and maybe Explorer/Properties already open. To start a new place, simply click the new button in the top left corner- it looks like a sheet of paper. This will open a blank place, not even a baseplate. If you're in build mode, it's usggested you leave the baseplate be.
If you want to work on a place saved ot the computer, click "Load" by the New button. If you want to work on a place uploaded to ROBLOX, go to the place, and click "Edit". Or, you may prefer "Build" which will automatically open the place in studio mode, except you will have a character.
From here, you can experiment with the buttons if you like, the toolbar too. Below is a basic description on each toolbar items:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toolbar
File: Opens a list of basic commands, load, save, new, recent, ect. Edit: Opens editing commands, like undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, lock/unlock, stuff like that. View: A key element here that allows you to open Explorer, Properties, Output, Command, and other windows that are essential to building, scripting, and debugging. Insert: Another important part in Studio, allows you to insert objects (Script, smoke, fire, humanoid, countless in all) and services, the main categories in Explorer. Format: Not as important, allows you to group and ungroup, but there are easier ways. Tools: While this may seem useful, and you may end up using it a lot, I find myself scarcely clicking the button. Window: Simply allows you to switch windows open in Studio. Help: Access to help topics.
Comment away, like this intro? Have a suggestion?
