Once upon a time there was a guy who sat in his basement and played Crossroads all day and night. One night, a man wearing a top hat came to his house and rang his doorbell. He answered the door only to find a box filled with Kraft Mac and Cheese. He, suspicious of this cheesy gift, took it to a lab and had it examined. This Mac and Cheese contained the world's first computer virus. This virus was so deadly that it literally transformed the host into a PC. Once the host had gone through transformation it crashed other computers by making them repeatedly multiply 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 and so on. This virus was given the name 1x1x1x1.
Since the host spent most of his time playing Crossroads, that was the server this virus attacked first. It caused real human heads to pop out of people's computer monitors and horrified everyone playing in that server. The bravest of the people playing in that server, our own MrDoomBringer decided to fight back against the virus and challenged it to a duel in Sword Fights On The Heights. I will not go into the specifics, but MrDoomBringer beat this virus until it was a mere puddle of cytoplasm.
MrDoomBringer told his right-hand men Norton and McAfee to make sure the virus did not recover but they failed and the virus multiplied; creating three new viruses named Adware, Malware, and Spyware. They went on to torment the internet and will continue to do so for all eternity. Some say the virus created a fourth new virus named Trojan but it has never been confirmed.
Please read. It took me 15 minutes to write this and I think it will be very informing. |

Nice story, but I doubt a computer would crash just by multiplying 1*1 a bunch of times.

Posted by a mod.
I posted this in a thread that subsequently died. I'm posting it here so you can refer back to it later. Keep the link to this forum. Distribute it. Tell people the truth. Because the truth is actually quite boring.
Lets talk about where the name comes from. Long ago, Telamon posted a number of stories about Roblox's backstory to the News. One of these included mentions of 2x2, the first brick. Copied over and over, every other brick were it's descendents.
Then, in a footnote, he mentions the evil 1x1x1x1. So that's where the name comes from. Blame John.
Lets talk about why people say he's a hacker. A guy who's name is long forgotten (not Zuka) found an exploit (not CheatEngine) to insert control scripts into online places. He sent me a message, telling me he had something to demonstrate. I joined him in Crossroads, and it started raining heads saying things along the lines of "He's coming back!" and "1x1x1x1 is coming for you!" and the likes. People in the server freaked out, I found it hilarious, he gave me instructions on how it works and I reported it to the devs. End of story.
Other people, like Dignity, would find other way to insert scripts, and people would assume that they have something to do with "the hacker group" 1x1x1x1.
Truth is, it was one guy playing off of a Roblox Lore thing. Get over it. It's that boring. |
