What is this? Explorer is a good example of this, you click the plus and it opens up more of the 'tree'
How exactly do I accomplish this? |

| Depends on what it is you're... treeing. Is it nested tables? |

Yes, it is.
Much like
Grandparent = { Parents = {"Bob","Tom","Sam"} Parents2 = {} Parents3 = {"Jim"} }
Then I could create a family tree. |

| Yes, because you're asking(requesting) a method. And good look finding somebody without a G.C.S.E in Maths, Buisness Studies and Computer programming and somebody who knows C++. |

@mark, get lost you stupid idiot. You cannot tell the difference between a request and someone asking for HELP.
@OP:
You mean like the explorer? Like where you have hierarchy like:
Workspace > Camera > Base Lighting > Sky

My method would be to have a table of points. If your heirachy is:
bigtable = { Grandparent = { Parents = {"Bob","Tom","Sam"} Parents2 = {} Parents3 = {"Jim"} } heresanothervariable = {} thisisjustforthesakeofnestedvariables {} }
(I just put it inside another table because there wasn't enough nested tables in yours for my example to work)
Then, say your location is
location = {"Grandparent", "Parents2"}
And a handy reference whom I shall calls "james"
james = bigtable
I would design a function, initially fired with an argument of 1 (prepare for ultra recurse) that would iterate through 'james' (so it starts off in bigtable and lists all the pointers), and lists them or creates them or whatever. HOWEVAR, when it matches the pointer with index 1 of 'location' (you now see the point of the argument) it sets james = james[i], and fires the function again, with argument = argument + 1.
kind of confusing but a solid method that I used when making an explorer replica.

| @sdfgw, so you're saying that you have half a G.C.S.E? Thats impossible you idiot, You probably don't even have 1. And SoulStealer9875, Asking is requesting you idiot, you obviously don't think before you speak, or in this case type. |

Mark, get the heck off of this forum, we are all far superior at scripting to you. I can prove this because I was merely asking for logic, not a script at all. Anybody can script in Lua, but not everyone can provide logic.
All I've seen is you be unhelpful to people and troll them, I'm guessing this is because you can't even script well enough yourself.
So seriously, go somewhere where they like people that are trolls, like OT. |

@Mark, get out right now. Asking for HELP isn't requesting, asking for SCRIPTS is requesting.
Oh and by the way, you're an idiot. |

You get it right, asking is requesting. and scripting lua is simple, I know anybody can understand that but i bet you guys can't even script C++ or Smart can you?
Exactly you can't so shut up, I may not have helped you because i maybe... I don't know... Couldn't be bothered? |

Actually, we both can. I also code in Adobe Action Script, VB.net, Javascript and I am currently learning Java.
Smart is not a good language, and honestly isn't needed.
The idea of this forum is to 'ask for help' a request is something you require. The difference being. Request : 'I require this script, make it for me.' Asking : 'Can you offer me logic or correct this for me?'
Request ~= Asking Your_Logic = nil |
