To bump a thread and put it on the front page so it can be noticed.
in a nutshell
so sum up a large quantity of information in a short answer. |

"In a nutshell" is basically a popular joke on OT which is used to sum up something in a funny yet true way.
"Bumping" is so the thread gets noticed more because it brings up the post count of a thread. |

| Bump is the act of moving a thread to the front page, so-to-speak. Usually if someone has a dead thread, he or she will bump it to try to get it more attention. |
