Please note that 'TLB' is an acronym for the REAL title, which will be revealed 11/11/11 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter One: Something to Remember Woozy, everything around me was spinning. An immense pain hit my whole body. I rose my hand to my face, and felt a large scar go across my cheek to my forehead. Sweat drips off my brow, I can hear the ‘PLOP!’ on the ground. My ankle feels sprained and my arm, broken. The sky was dark, black clouds drift away from my sight slowly. As the time passes, my injuries feel worse and worse. I want to put myself out of my misery. Soon minutes feels like hours. In staring at the sky, I realized no more clouds have passed by, and the color is no longer dark blue, it is flat black. I lift my head up weakly. I see figures lying on the ground before me. ‘Are they dead?’ I think. My head turns left and right, I count only 5 of them. My cheeks feel numb as the wind presses against them. Only one question came to my head at this exact moment, ‘Where am I?’ It's been about twenty minutes or so, but it feels like hours. A faint groan rings in my ears. My head flies up, even though it just made it hurt way more than it was before. I still see the bodies around me, not moving. Yet another groan is heard. I stare at the bodies blankly. “Who's there?” I stammer, my voice is hoarse and weak. I continue to scan the bodies, still no movement. No more groans follow. My head falls back onto the hard ground. “Me.” I hear a voice finally answer. I turn my head up. I notice one of the bodies are up and looking at me. His expression seems lost, as am I. “Who are you?” I ask the boy. He just stares blankly at me. I demand once again, “Who are you?!” “Zane,” The boy finally says. “Zane Colexi.” I sigh and look at him. He has long dark hair swished to the side, a dirty leather jacket with a dark blue tee under, he wears dirty jeans and converse shoes. “What about you?” Zane asks hoarsely to me. “Khade Moore.” I reply to him, taking my eyes off him and gazing at my surroundings. Soon, silence falls before us. I lay my head back on the ground. Not a word comes from Zane's mouth. I have no idea where I am, or how I even got here. It seems as if I know it, but it's all a blur to me. I can't really see what happened in these past few, hours? Days? Months? Who could know? All of these things are rushing through my head fast, I can't concentrate. I can hear Zane grunt, but I don't bother to check on him. My eyes start flashing, and then I begin to see things out of nowhere. A dark figure, six monsters fighting it. Suddenly, I'm in the middle of it. Actually, I'm fighting in it! I cannot control anything, it's as if this has already happened. 'Maybe it's just a dream.' I wonder. There are flashing lights all around me, explosions, lightning. Everything is such a rush. The large dark figure roars as something forms in his hands. Next thing I know, it's coming for me. I flip out of the way, or whatever it is flipped out of the way. An immense heat was felt inside my mouth, slowly and steady it opens. A large beam of fire bursts right out, hitting the dark figure directly in the chest. The figure roars again and deflects the beam back at me. I get flung on the ground. I find myself looking at, this monster. I have dragon scales all over my body, there is a golden breastplate over but stops at the top of my stomach. Covering my stomach is a silver metal plate that I feel goes around my waist and all over my back. Another golden piece of armor goes to my thighs and stops at my knees. A torn fabric hangs over my kneecap as I notice that I don't have human feet. It seems as if I have dragon feet or something. I see 3 large toes, there are gigantic talons sticking out that glows silver in the light. While as I have scales over my top body, on my feet there is no scales, just seems as some sort of soft, gooey type of skin. My head swings up, there I look at the dark figure. Fireballs blast from my hands, hitting the figure continuously but no damage is dealt. I glance over to my right, I can barely see a figure of a woman, but unlike any other, I can't put my finger on it though. Something doesn't feel right about this. I quickly dodge out of the way before a dark orb hits me. 'What was that...' I keep asking myself. My eyes flash again and I'm back in reality. I rub my head and groan, all that made me quite dizzy. A slight drizzle of rain pours on my hair and water droplets fall off strands. My head lifts up, I see Zane and four other people-that I noticed where asleep earlier- by a huge pack of dead trees. I hobble over and join them, I am freezing cold. My sight glances over at a girl, my age. She looks vaguely familiar. “It's not polite to stare,” She snaps at me. “If you wanted to know who I am, you should just ask me.” “Alright then,” I roll my eyes. “I don't seem to know you, or you or you. Do you mind if I ask you your name?” “Hey, don't be like that!” She snarls at me. “Well if you really wanted to know, I am Ivette Aldrich. Only call me Ivy, no more, no less. Got it?” I nod, not saying a word. I look over at her, she has long brown hair with slightly pale skin. Ivy wears a green coat with a teal-colored tee under it. Also is wearing skinny jeans and white sneakers. Just a normal girl that you'd find on a place where there's a lot of dead things. “Ivy,” Zane bursts out. She turns her head to him. “Really, didn't have to be rude about it.” “I know, I know.” She sighs, “I'm just so irritated that I don't even know where I am, and I just met you guys and now I'm having a conversation with you.” Zane stares at her for a few seconds, then nods. I gaze at the three others who I didn't learn their names. One of them is wearing a black hoodie with jeans with a lot of holes in them, mud-brown boots and a dark green baseball cap worn sideways. The teenage boy looks at me. “Cold,” She says politely to me. I look at her with a concerned look on my face. “Oh, I'm not cold, my name is Cold.” I glance over at the other two teenage boys, one has long blonde hair with a brown coat and black pants with cleats. Another has a blue jacket zipped up nearly all the way, shorts that go over his knees and sneakers. The blonde one scowls at me and looks away. The other one stares at me for a while and turns his head in the opposite direction. We sit in silence for a few minutes, when Zane tries to start up a conversation that I know won't last long. “So does anyone remember how we got here?” “No.” Ivy growled at him. “Don't bother me, I'm way too tired to care about anything right now.” A thin object appears at my feet. I recognize it, an arrow. I rush to my feet and look everywhere, trying to find whoever shot the arrow. Zane rises also. “What the-” He exclaims as another arrow gets shot into the tree, just missing his head. ”Where's that coming from?!” In a matter of seconds we're all up and dodging the arrows coming for us. I finally see the source, a group of hooded men up on the mountainside. I think they know I spotted then also. Soon the barren field around us is covered with arrows. I look up at the hooded men, they are turning back and running. I know they're coming back, but stronger. “Don't expect it to be over yet.” I say to the others, picking an arrow from the ground and examining it. “Why do you think that?” Ivy says, in a nicer tone. “Because I saw them,” I begin, “And just because I did doesn't mean they will just run away. I mean seriously, we have no defenses. We could be killed just that easy.” Cold nods his head in agreement. “We still can't run though. We'll be too slow and they'll catch us. Plus we don't even know where to run, we're all unfamiliar with this place.” “Yeah but-” I begin. Before I can finish, a loud, ferocious roar rings in my ears. My head swings around until my sight is on the mountainside. I see a dragon, but not just a regular dragon. I must be hallucinating. It can't be what I think it is. A Hydra. The three heads of the large dragon roar. Fire spurts out in between their large, sharp, ferocious teeth. “RUN!” Zane exclaims and breaks out running into the dead forest. The rest of us follow not too far behind. As we pass through the branches, I can hear the roaring become louder and louder, as I know they are near. I can hear Zane mutter a curse as we run. I can hear trees being knocked over and branches ripping out of the trunks. I don't even try to look back. I can hear loud footsteps behind me, as I know the dragon is getting closer. I glance over at Zane, he looks at me back. Instantly we have the same plan. “SPLIT!” He yells and runs in the opposite direction. We all run in different directions, just when I realize that wasn't a smart plan. Fire shoots out of the heads, grazing my shoulder and lighting my coat on fire. Oddly, I don't feel it burn or anything. I slam my shoulder into a tree and I can hear a pop, but the fire went out. I can feel a very immense pain right there but somehow I'm able to go on. Footsteps are heard right on my tail, they stopped chasing the others and immediately went for me. I have to think fast, think of a plan. I tumble over and hide behind some trees, but it isn't long before the dragon finds me. The tree behind me bursts into flames and I quickly dodge out of the way before my clothes get caught in the fire. I roll down a hill into large patches of dead trees. Even if I hide behind one they'll find me easily. I rush through the forest, my footsteps making different sounds on the ground. Sweat drips off my brow and I can feel my face getting redder and redder. For a brief moment I think about where the others went, or if they even are still alive. Arrows fly past me, fire burns around me. I have limited space to continue running. I find myself running up a ledge and at the edge of a cliff. I stop dead in my tracks before I trip and fall in. There's a riverbank down below. Large spiked rocks attached to the side of the abyss. I have no choice but to jump, but with all the dangers down there I'll know I will die quicker than I will while I'm caught on fire and an arrow stuck in my back. I jump over, a slight second where wind intensely hits my face. My hands meet a rock, a ledge. I hang over the side of the abyss. My arms are starting to ache. I don't think I can hold on anymore. My fingers slightly slip but I grip onto a small piece of rock on the ledge. I can barely breathe, which is a disadvantage for gripping a ledge on the side of an abyss. I look up, I can see arrows flying by and dragon roars. There's a loud crack sound, then I realize it's the ledge I'm holding on. I scream, quickly grabbing on to another ledge, but not as sturdy. The side of the abyss shakes as gigantic footsteps are heard getting louder and louder. I close my eyes tightly and prepare for the worst. “Soreth Makyn...” I hear a voice over the side of the abyss, but it is unfamiliar. “Zema Friante!” A bright flash of light goes over the side of the cliff. My eyes fly open, no sounds followed. As only the sounds of birds and insects fall through the abyss. I struggle to pull myself on top of the ledge. I hop onto another, watching my footing to make sure it doesn't break off. It's high enough that I can look over the side. Slowly, I peer over the side of the abyss. Nothing is there. I cautiously crawl back up onto the cliff side. My eyes turn left and right, all that's there is just dead trees and dead animal carcasses. The stench makes my eyes water. I take in a deep breath of air, as I've never breathed before. I walk around, observing any clues of what just happened. I hear a slight whimper, like a puppy. My body quickly turns around. I see nothing. I feel a nudge at my feet. I look down, then smile. It looks like a lion cub, but with a little mane and small wings. A gryffin I believe. “Hey little guy.” I pick him up. The small gryffin is covered in mud. “What are you doing here? It's very dangerous.” The little cub looks at me, his eyes are golden and glimmers against the dim light. I rub his mane softly, mud rubs on my hands. The little cub hops out of my arms and runs back in the forest. I sigh and wipe the mud on my jeans. Soon the slight drizzle of rain becomes a storm. My curly hair falls flat of being wet. I faintly hear a voice, it's familiar, but I can't make it out. My head turns in the direction of the silent noise. A figure with a long robe that drags on the ground appears out of the shadows of the trees. A raspy breathing comes out of the inside of his dark hood. The rain hits the fabric, but it seems to absorb. He stands in front of me, I can see the glowing red eyes staring at me. “Khade Moore,” A voice begins. I know it is a man that is speaking. “You haven't survived the worst.” “What do you mean?” I stammer, taking a big step back. The man nods and turns around. I have no idea what is going to happen next. I look down over at the part of the robe hanging on the ground, it seems to be dissolving. Smoke forms from the back and meets my nostrils, the stench is horrid. I take a few more steps back, until my heel meets the edge of the cliff. “I wouldn't do that if I were you.” The man says creepily. I take a look over my shoulder, kicking a small stone off. The stone clattered off the sides of the cliff before it disappeared out of my sight until I heard the splash of it landing in the riverbank. I look back over at the man, which his cloak is starting to float. My eyes widen as I blink constantly, hoping this isn't real. Unfortunately, it is. The back of the cloak starts to split in half until it stops at his neck. “What is this?!” I exclaim, moving to the side. The man looks over his shoulder, his hood gone. He smiles at me with lips as red as blood, the skin very pale like a vampire. He has long hair that goes to his shoulders and a beard that connects to his sideburns all the way down over his chin. “Just a trick.” The split parts of his robe raise up in the air. I realize the material of it is no longer fabric, but almost looks like reptile scales. His pale skin turns flat black, horns rip out of his shoulders and as well the top of his head. Gigantic feet with talons split out of his brown boots. From his bottom lip starts to extend, his nose also. Slowly his pearly-white teeth become fangs that almost look like wood. His upper lip follows after his nose as they connect. The eyes of the man turn from dark green, to deep yellow. He grows massively until his clothes completely don't fit him and rip right off his body. A long tail rips right on top of where his belt used to be. “A dragon!” I stammer quickly starting to sprint in the other direction. “You're not getting away Furir!” The deep voice yells as I hear the loud steps of stomps, followed by a loud wind. He's flying. I slide into a small crevice under a tree, but it isn't long before he knocks it down. I try to escape, but his tail wraps around my neck, taking away my oxygen. He roars ferociously. I can see his ugly sharp teeth wiggle around his mouth. Suddenly another roar follows, but it isn't his. I smile, it's here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would really like some feedback on this. Really appreciate it, ;D
