Now, people from the United Kingdom might not know muchabout The CivilWar considering it doesn't concern them. Here's a basic summary of the war:
After the United States became an independant country an had declared "all men are created equal", the issue of slavery came up and many states(mostly concenetrated in the North) wanted to abolish slavery. This creates alot of issues and then there's the Underground railroad being made and all that.
Long story short, Abe Lincoln becomes US president and the South knew Abe wanted to abolish slavery so they declared independance and formed the Confederate States of America (CSA). Then war broke out at Fort Sumter and The Civil War started.
Now, it says in SPECIFICALLY The Declaration of Independance that if a group of people don't feel their rights are being upheld, they morally are OBLIGATED to declare independance. It's debateable if the South's rights were being upheld or not but they FELT their rights were not upheld, therefore, they have the right to declare independance according to the Declaration of Independance .
When a president is put into office, he/she swears to "uphold the founding principles of these United States of America".It would seem as Abe Lincoln didn't even though he took an oath to do so.
One could argue that freeing the slaves was the goal of The Civil War but listen to the other side. Alot of the slaves were criminals from Africa. They were forced into slavery as a punishment for breaking laws in Africa. Alot of them were murderers and robbers so one could argue that they deserved what they got.
Plus not every slaveowner was mean and crual, some of them were nicer to the slaves and rarely beat them and were less verbally abusive.
Also, if slavery was completely abolished at that time suddenly, alot of people would have lost ALOT of money because slaves were a critical part of plantations.
The federal government seemed to fail to understand this because they decided to resort to war instead of peaceful methods, like diplomacy.
I am open to hear other opinions so... Discuss |

Neither will people from any other countries apart from the USA, why point out the UK specifically?
Other than that and a few spelling/grammar mistakes, it had alright syntax and a pretty good overall structure. |

Lol, I don't think owning slaves is a right.
Also, Where do you get this about slaves being murderers/criminals? |

@gamer Oh and, Americans do have the right to Have business and compete for money. Slave trade is a business. So is cotton, which slaves are a critical part of. |

| How about if you were put into slavery? Would you like it? Anyway I highly recommend you pick many sources instead of one since this one seems to be biased towards the slaves. |

They the slaves should have been able to free themselves from their owners just like the South freed itself from the North. ____ "One could argue that freeing the slaves was the goal of The Civil War but listen to the other side. These people turned others into slaves so I guess they deserved it too. ____ "Plus not every slaveowner was mean and crual, some of them were nicer to the slaves and rarely beat them and were less verbally abusive."
So? They are still SLAVES.

| During the revolution, the issue at hand was independence and not emancipation. Every problem must be solved one at a time. |
