| Will it be like Antarctica with different nations have different amounts of area, or will it be no national influence, with colonization being a world affair like the ISS? |

| I think it should remain international property, I feel that would encourage privatized space exploration. |

| But then you've got a moon owned entirely by corporations because ordinary people don't have a chance. I'd say whoever lands a rocket on an area gets that area. |

I'd hope citizens and companies.
warrab
But by selling it off, you don't really have to have much space travel expertise. If you have to land a rocket there, you'll be able to reach it. (Still not going to be many citizens, but with that you still have a chance on it.)
And then that brings up another question. Supposing one does land a rocket on the moon, how much area should they get around the rocket's landing site? |

Werton, but then you've got the moon being used too much for the prestige of nations and less for the benefit of humanity.
Warrab, while that may be true, landing a rocket there shows you can get there soon, if they just buy a plot of land, who knows how long until they get there? |

| Prestige is good.... Anyway, there is a lot of mineral wealth on the moon which we could exploit. |

Well, we should split moon into nations that exists today, or:
We should have moon international at first, but then keep selling the land to goverments.
You know how many UN would gen money? |

But then it would lead to wars over the moon, and private industry can exploit the resources just as well as nations.
Waffle
I'd say keep it international, then sell it out to private industry/individuals, UN could still generate money that way. |

| boeing: However selling it to countries which will then manage the moon up to individuals/corporations sounds still like a good idea to me. |

But if we keep it international property, it will be passed out without anyone using it for military purposes.
werton
Honestly, I wouldn't trust governments with the moon. One of the first things they'd do would be make a military base to get an edge on their enemies. |

| The moon will be owned by UN without allowence to pass military, and it will be sold to countries, so, richest countries will get most profit. |

I don't think the moon should be used as a military advantage, I think it should be used for the general good of mankind.
(on a related note I think I will minor in aerospace engineering) |

Well, then the UN should sell the territory, but it cannot be used as a military standover.
And when moon gets over 15 000 000 population, it can be also an independant nation. |
