They are in most cases, my dad does archary though, so he has a permit to have one but we're just not allowed to store it at our house.

No interrest in firearms in my own opinion really i think it's incredibly stupid to store a firearm at your household.
I have nothing against going to a shooting range and shooting targets, but for "self deffense" that's just retarded, you could probably learn a martial art and deffend yourself from someone who intends to attack you, rather then shooting them and having to take it to court which could take months if not years to resolve.
Plus imagine how much time you'd have to take off work.
No work = less money to be earnt
Less money to be earnt = terrible lifestyle
Plus you would certainly be fined for shooting someone, whether it was self deffense or not, and with less money those fines and bills would be harder to pay off.

| your not fined for shooting someone in self defense. when someone has a gun or another weapon resorting to hand to hand combat simply is not an option. all you simply have to do is recount your story to a judge have the police scoure your house interview you. if the intruder is in your household threating you with bodily harm you have the right to defend yourself. |

| and do you honestly think that every person should learn a martial art? do you know how exepensive that is? its not an option for people low income families. whilst a firearm only costs at its cheapests $50. |

And if you took firearms a lot more seriously then yoiu wouldn't even be in that situation in the first place.
That's why I like how friearm laws are a lot more stricter then most other places, if someone actually enters your house they aren't gonna be armed with much more then a knife, so it isn't needed to actually shoot them, learn a martial art and you will be able to easily disarm the knife and call the police.
It's more safe without the use a gun in Australia, |

| you do realise that an overwelming majority of firearms used by criminals are purchased on the black market and are not registerd. do you really think that a criminal would just walk into a gunstore and then go rob a house? if he drops the weapon hes caught if he fires a shot and the police search his house they can figure out when he purchased it from who, if he even has the correct permits. if he deosnt have the correct permits he has even more years added onto his sentence. why would he worry about that when he can just go to his local black market dealer buy an automatic weapon with no way of tracking the transaction or linking him to the firearm. also theres a reason why we have the right to bear arms. |

@prind
Yup, even though those kind of dealers are extremely hard to find, my mates dad has some kind of shotgun he got from his mate's dad.
I myself haven't seen it but my mate said he found it one day, his dad got rid of it though. |

people in the US are wusses. can't deal with a "home invader" (who never ever shows up) so they buy tons of guns (or lie about having them in prind's case, obviously)
most of us need to toughen up. if you're really paranoid about an invader, get a giant sword. scare the crap out of them. they'd be like "what the hell, this guy is charging at me with a sword?!?!?!?!?" then run away |
