I decided that I'm going to dust off my keyboard, so to speak, and get back into writing RPs. Though, I'm certain most of you are sick of the zombie/school/superpower/war RPs. I certainly was before my 6-month hiatus, and still am.
I want to make as mature an RP as the RP guidelines will allow, and not let the very inexperienced in (as a safety measure). It will deal with powers, but with a more serious and realistic undertone. In short, no blowing up the CN Tower with a lightning bolt and dancing with Godzilla. There's just too many places for that here.
Please toss out your ideas. |

| I'd prefer something with a modern, sci-fi slant. Nothing cliched or with the capacity to be cliched. |

I know what it is, Coco, I grew up with it and the original Dragon Ball.
I was thinking of something along the line of human augmentation (whether bionic or genetic). |

Okay. Modern-day England, perhaps a large city like Manchester (London is too popular). I'd like to play on the issues nowadays, with the toxins in our everyday objects and scientists "playing God" with GMO's and human/machine augmentation. However, I don't want to make it cliched like the typical "they're experimenting on people and they're heartless and yadda yadda and etc. etc.". There has to be reason and morals behind the people working on genetically enhanced/poisoned/cybernetically augmented people, and most of all, emotion. I all too often just simply hear of a company doing experiments, and I never hear another word of the thoughts and reasoning of the people there, or why exactly they're doing the things they do.
So I thought, perhaps since it's a major goal and dream of humanity in general: They're seeking immortality... and they fail. Many times over. What do they do? |

I miss that thread, but it died long ago and it wouldn't be worth the effrt to bring it back.
I'd like your help developing on my idea. Any thoughts would be lovely. |

| Hmm, well, I'm not quite sure what to say. It looks all quite good, we just have to think of the motivation for the experimentation, and how people end up there, I guess. |

I don't think I've ever met someone who doesn't hate the prospect of living forever... not even me. That's all the motivation you need. People will do anything for immortality. The emperor of the Han dynasty, Huang Di (not sure, don't quote me on it), sought eternal life, so he told his alchemists to formulate a Golden Elixir (potion of life). His master alchemist gave him a series of pills... containing mercury.
Huang Di died shortly thereafter. |

Interesting... Though, what would immortality have to do with powers and such? |

| Uh... Maybe the experiments are sign-up only? After the 'failures', the subjects are put back into society with a new name, fake background, etc? |

Scientists would be looking for the secret to eternal life... and would be playing with genetics and cybernatic medicie (nanobytes and the like) in order to do so, but it would prove difficultwith many failures and occupational hazards, so to speak.
Get the picture? |

| Maybe like, they're trying to advance the human race through immortality, and other things. |
