Currently, there is a spam filter already like this, I forgot the name, but I might as well spew out the concept of it, eh?
Here's how the system works: 1. A user comments on a hat, gear, t-shirt, etc. 2. The comment is spam and looks like this "copy and paste this on 5 shirts and you will get those 5 shirts!!!!!!" 3. The comment goes through regular moderation, seeing as there are no bad words or anything that might offend anyone in it. 4. Later that day... 5. New player comes along, sees the comment and says, oo, I saw a couple of shirts earlier that I want! 6. New player copies and pastes comment on to 5 other shirts 7. Spam filter sees these new messages and sees that they are all the same, so it deletes those comments, filing it as "spam".
This will work for other comments, but, seeing as how ROBLOXIANS will quickly get around this filter, it will look for identical words in it, possible removing all symbols and numbers to see if the comment is identical or close to another comment.
Basically, all the spam filter does, is search for patterns in all the comments, so all the current copy and paste comments would be deleted, and if more are made, then they will also eventually be deleted.
Any ideas on how to improve this idea? Post them here! |

| Or a spam button that automatically sends a report just like anyone that says "spam" in why you thought it was bad. Then mods'll really get off their butts... |

| OR, you could make a system that picks up the keywords in spam like that, such as, "copy" "Paste" "F1-Free OBC" "F2-10,000 tix" "F3-10,000 robux". Amirite? |

| And if it has even 1 of those keywords, the comment will not be able to be posted, and a message will say "Your comment has been flagged as spam. This is a rule to ensure that comments will not be filled with glitches that do not work." |

@minty
Well, then people can make an account, spam 20 comments, make an alt, spam 20 comments, make another alt, spam another 20 comments, make yet another freaking alt, spam yet another freaking 20 comments, so on and so forth. |

@mike If it searches for key words only, then someone could easily use symbols to get around it. (p0st this 1o t1m3s TO get fr33 tix) |

| The filter would also not allow numbers to cut down on spam. That way they can't bypass the system. |

| The only problem is what if someone says an internet meme or someone decides to write a comment but someone later says the same thing? |

@river If people say "TEH EPIK FAIC!" That really does count as spam, seeing as it has no value to the community and has nothing to do with anything except maybe a decal of the epic face. @mike Uh, can you restate that in simpler terms e_e |

| Oh, are you saying that you can't have numbers in your comments? Well, that wouldn't really work, seeing as people could just use letters instead of numbers. |

Like what? A mods job is to moderate the comments, forum posts, and decals. Admins work on the game. |

You may think this will work, but it is severely flawed.
There must be millions of commentaries on ROBLOX. What do you think the chances are that someone else has posted an exact same message as somebody else before? Then those get deleted. But does the filter start counting those messages again (there were two comments with the exact same message, which have been deleted, so does the filter block any new comment with that message or wait until it gets to two)?
It doesn't matter. If you're going to come up with anything to extinguish irrelevant spam, you have to make sure you don't remove relevant comments as well. |
