Bridge To Terabithia Report Twinkletown97 31.09.2011
Hi, my name is Twinkle and every week I will read a book a tell you all about it. :3
Bridge To Terabithia:
Very affective chapters, very sad ending. Leslie and Jess are the main charecters in the story. Jess is a boy, wanting to be the fastest runner in Grade 5 so he has been waking up every early morning, by the sound of his dad's pick up truck starting to go to work, and Jess runs right to the other end of the field, with Mrs. Bessie, the cow that he milks every morning and every evening. As we get to know Jess a bit more, Leslie, a new girl who just moved in next door to the Aaron's family (Jess's family). Leslie talks a bit to Jess, but Jess isnt much of a talker with girls, infact, he isnt that popular at school either. So Leslie heads back home. At Lark Creek school, Leslie is a new student and Jess gets to know her better. Their both in the same class, the teacher, Mrs. Myers. So Grade 5 have this races going on, because in Lark Creek school they are low on equipment so the older kids get the equipment so the smaller kids do this running thing. They all race eachother and find the fastest runner in Grade 5. Leslie asks to join, but the boy who runs the races, Gary Fulcher denies her request, but then suddenly Jess speaks up, "Too scared to let a girl run, huh?" Jess exclaimed to Gary. So, Gary decides not be be embarresed and lets Leslie join the race. Finially, it was Jess's turn to race with his group, coutning Leslie. He was going to be the fastest runner of fifth grade, he just knew it all. But then, suddenly Leslie wins the race and the races are over. No more races because every time Leslie wins. Later, Leslie and Jess become best friends, with Jess's 4 sisters call Leslie his girlfriend. Jess has 4 sisters, 2 older sisters called Brenda and Alice and 1 other sister, a bit younger than Jess called MayBelle and of course, the youngest of them all, AnneBell. Jess and Leslie one day decide to swing in Leslie's house. There was an old rope and an old swing at Leslie's house. Leslie said "You know what we need?" but Jess didnt need anything, the feeling of soaring in the air on just a swing, it felt amazing and he finially felt free. "We need a place, just for us, and we would tell nobody in the whole world!" Leslie carried on. Jess thought it was a great idea, so Leslie came up with the idea, that they had to swing from the rope to get there. The magical world they decide to call Terabithia and its location is by the woods, right where Leslie lives. They roleplay and Leslie is queen and Jess as king. Sooner or Later, Christmas was coming up and Jess didnt know what to give Leslie as a gift. Jess's family was very poor, each of them got to have 2 dollars to buy a gift for eachother. MayBelle really wants a Barbie doll, so the whole family raises up all their money for MayBelles barbie doll. One day after school, Jess was just sitting in the bus and suddenly, the bus passed a sign saying "FREE PUPPIES". Jess asked the bus driver to stop, but the bus driver doesnt like Jess going out on the streets, but the bus driver accepts his request by stopping the bus. Later, Christmas day was up and Jess gave Leslie the adorable puppy for Christmas. Leslie was so happy, she called him Prince Terrien, P.T. Leslie had given Jess a new paintset, because Jess was a great artist, he loved designing new creatures but he didnt show anybody his drawings because he thought nobody would like them, except his music teacher called Mrs. Edmunds. Miss Edmunds adored his drawings so Jess had a crush on her and waited for the magical hour on Friday to be with her, in music class. Soon it becomes April, and Jess and Leslie are still best friends. Jess had just met Leslie's parents but her parents insisted Jess to call them their real names, Bill and Jude instead of Leslie's mom and Leslie's dad. Bill is a political writer, and writes about the news and Jude writes childrens books, but Jude to be honest is more sucessful than Bill. Bill, Leslie and Jess decide that they wanted to paint the kitchen gold, so they did. It wasnt a chore though, it was a great expirience. Bill is very thankful for Jess helping Leslie and him make the so called "Golden Room". Jess and Leslie later go more often to Terabithia. Every time they have problems, Terabithia is the place to go to, relax and roleplay as king and as queen. March comes up, and its raining non-stop. This is the month were the Aaron's family goes to church. Leslie wants to come too, because she has never been to church before, so Jess asks and the Aarons family says, well, Leslie is very affective with her clothes, because Leslie wears weird clothes, because she just moved from the city, Washington DC and moving from the city to the country is a very big change. Leslie moved to the country because her parents has LOTS of money, but her parents wanted to focus on what was really important in life. Leslie says she has some really good clothes in her closet, so the Aarons family says yes that she is able to come to church with them, for the first time in her life. After, Leslie was just so thankful that she got to have that wonderful expirience to go to church. Then MayBelle says to Leslie, "Where do people go when they die?", so then in the car way back home from church they talk about that and MayBelle ends the conversation by saying "But Leslie, what would happen when you die?". The next day Jess wakes up early to milk Mrs. Bessie, the cow. Then MayBelle rushes up to Jess and says "Mrs. Edmunds wants to talk to you on the phone!", but Jess barely gets any phone calls, from anybody. Mrs. Edmunds asks Jess if he can keep her company and they would go to an Art Museum in Washington DC. so its still very early and Jess's mom is still half asleep so Jess asks his mom if he can come to the Museum, she just says Ummmmm because she is still sleeping so Jess suggests that that is a Yes. So Mrs. Edmunds picks Jess up and drives them to Washington DC. After, it was a great expirience for Jess, but he feels a bit bad that he didnt invite Leslie to come, but Jess wanted to be alone with Mrs. Edmunds and anyways, Leslie had lived in Washington DC, so it wasnt new to her. Later, Mrs Edmunds drops him off at his home, so Jess enters the house, seeing the whole family on the couch. They slowly tell him, Leslie had died. She had probally went to Terabithia and the rope broke and she cracked her head open, and drowned in the water, since it was raining like crazy. Jess couldnt believe it, he was in total shock. This part in the story is a real affective part, it really came to me. Since Jess and Leslie had been friends for already so long, and she dies, that is just so sad. So here Jess is, alone with no best friend anymore, only P.T and Mrs. Bessie. Now he shall have to have a new queen, Terabithia shall miss Leslie, and look forward to MayBelle, their new queen.
