kk i should tell you guy the exp
its like
Normally you should do brackets, then indices, then division, then multiplaction, then addition, then subtraction.
Does your calculator let you put in brackets and stuff? How is it doing stuff in the wrong order? Because surely 2+3-5+4 = (2+3)-(5+4) = 2+(3-5)+4?
And saying that (br+ir)-(dr+er) = br-dr+ir-er is true... it makes no difference what order you do them in, it's just had expanded brackets. (br + ir) - (dr + er) = (br + ir) + (dr + er)×(-1) = (br + ir) + (-dr + -er) = br + ir + -dr + -er = br - dr + ir - er
Multiplication and division are essentially the same thing, as are addition and subtraction. When you divide by a number, you multiply by that number's reciprocal (so for example ); and when you subtract a number, you add that number's negative (i.e.. ), so it doesn't really matter what order you do these in. So:
B. Brackets I. Indices D. Division M. Multiplication A. Addition S. Subtraction |
