Dear ROBLOX Support:
It has come to my attention that people are now using automated programs to gain sales and favorites on their t-shirts, shirts and pants. Not only does this ruin ROBLOX’s economy, it also puts legitimate clothing makers out of business by giving the illusion that because the item in question has many sales that it is really good. Believe it or not, this has happened to ROBLOX before, and some dozen people were banned for using said program. However, even with the new CAPTCHA system, people still manage to make thousands of wasted users using programs just to get false recognition.
Here are some of the extreme abuse cases of clothes that were artificially assisted by programs prior to the CAPTCHA system being put in place: http://www.roblox.com/Epik-Paintball-Camo-FAV-item?id=37677554 - #10 best-selling shirt all-time http://www.roblox.com/It-has-special-powers-item?id=37730665 - #16 best-selling shirt all-time http://www.roblox.com/Omnomnom-item?id=38474414 - #12 best-selling t-shirt all-time
These people have since been banned forever, and there are many other cases of it prior to the CAPTCHA system.
Now, onto today’s similar issue: The program has been rewritten (or perhaps another program has come into existence) that can overcome the anti-botting system used. This has caused even more clothes to rise into the infamy that is artificial recognition. Here are a few more drastic examples of clothing thrust into popularity from said bots: http://www.roblox.com/Gold-and-Black-DC-Hoodie-item?id=18924253 – Page 2 of best-selling shirts all-time http://www.roblox.com/Assassin-Cloak-of-the-Ninjas-Please-fav-it-item?id=25813651 – Page 2 also. This one might be from the previous botting expansion, judging by the leap in the amount of comments on the template. The oldest is 5 months, and the shirt is 1 year old. http://www.roblox.com/My-white-Pants-4500-Sells-item?id=21325248 – Page 1 of best-selling pants past week http://www.roblox.com/jun-left-item?id=56114657 – This is a ridiculously good example. Notice how it was created 2 months ago, and has 50,000 sales. Now compare that to the favorites (~50). That’s a ratio that can only result from overselling and no one favoriting. The true evidence, though, is the price of the tee. 10 tickets. Why? All users created start out with 10 tickets. Bots use this to gain the user money very fast. http://www.roblox.com/Buy-this-because-Im-cool-item?id=36261661 – Another great example. 1 favorite. How can 20,000 different human beings buy a tee and only favorite it once?! It’s preposterous!
I hope you see that people have been abusing ROBLOX’s monetary system by now. However, I’m not done yet. Here are some easy solutions that I’d recommend (it’s up to you): - Make new users wait 1 day (or even just an hour!) to get their login bonus of 10 tickets after joining ROBLOX. - Make the maximum amount of users creatable by one person a low number, like 10. I doubt anyone would need more than 10 users a day. Or even at all! - Make new users wait 1 day to buy user-created items. - Implement a team of moderators to monitor clothing sale figures. At the Rally in August, you guys talked about how you make sure ROBLOX is fully functioning 24/7 with real-time figures. Just implement that into clothing sales!
Thanks for reading this letter, and please put an end to this madness!
Sincerely, Shawn, A.K.A. ROBLOX user Vendettathegreat
