America has won the war of 1812. It was in a way America's second war of independence. What did Britain win? NOTHING. The US gained more control of the Great lakes, Native resistance fell, and impressments ended. It confirmed manifest destiny, and it shaped modern America. |

| It was a draw- but the Americans got beat pretty bad. If it wasn't for the British needing to fight the French..then America would have lost. |

| the Capital and white house dont matter. No one was in them when they burned. After the British left, congress met in a Hotel and the Cabinet met in a Post office. The burning of our government buildings fueled rage in Americans instead of fear and defeat. After the burning, the british had no chance of victory |

We're talking about the War of 1812, not the War of Independence. |

Look at the American revolution! Britain lost half the amount America did and America STILL won.

@History0
The American revolution caused the French revolution, which caused napoleon to take over, which started war in Europe, which started British Impressment of American Sailers, Which started the war of 1812. |

@werton, American's are not British
Revolution = Overthrow of a government
Civil war = government wins over a revolt
During the American CIvil war, the south called it the Second Revolution, until they lost. |
