I am leaning towards:
Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz, which I will over clock to 4.42GHz for the processor Or a Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.40GHz, which overclocks at 4.318GHz Corsair Force 3 SSD for the HHD Radeon HD 6850 for the video card linux/WindowXP 64bit OS Motherboard is undecided
This is only after about 20 minutes of research I do know I need more st00f for the computer, but this is a start of my list This adds up to about $400-$500 (retail, but I dont plan to pay that; besides I should be able to get money back when its finished by selling/parting out my laptop)
So any suggestions/comments about the list? Because I kinda want it to be powerful, but I would still like to keep it small and on the cheaper side |

When I first saw the title, I thought you meant from pure scratch, like down to the raw materials.
And I'm like "goodluckboi, hand crafting a computer will be as hard as finding a needle in a hay stack as tall as the Sears Tower"
But then I saw |

| I think I could find a needle as tall as the Sears Tower in a haystack, if such a needle existed. |

| Well I might do that later, but since I dont have any intricate understanding of exactly how the computer works/how the OS runs the computer, I figured I would start with the basics |

| Get a Z68 board and use SRT. It basically uses an SSD as a cache for frequently accessed files on a larger HDD. |

| 3GB of RAM is not enough to run a Roblox server of 2 players... I was hosting a Roblox server, added 2 players, and it said 96% of my RAM was being used an my fan was running extremely fast. I thought I would get a blue screen from overheat, too. Ololol. |

Of course I'm kidding... who even has that much memory on their hard drive?
Terabytes are ~$100, so I guess it would be about $1300 then, lol. (Implying it would actually fit in your laptop in the first place) |

| 6 or 8 will be more than enough. 4 will be okay for common stuff. |

Oh, I am not making a laptop, I am just making a computer that I would like to be small (not take up the desk and floor)
And I saw a 2 terabyte HDD for about $150-$170... but thats just too much
And I will probably switch over to eye's suggestion, as long as it doesnt cost too much more than my previous estimate |
