Remind me. :O

I really do need to know this, so I can see if Roblox is making an illogical or false claim. And I can see if the law is illogical, irrational or false as well. :D

I don't know, it doesn't seem like it would be a real issue to me....

It's kind of like my friend who just recently torrented halo and his ISP is threatening to shutdown his internet for it.

@belial: But doesn't halo cost money? We're not threatening to take any profits away from Roblox.

@Blooco, Where would you buy it? I mean, any place you would really buy the first one from would not give any profit to the makers of halo.

Still, if there was a huge problem, I'd be thrown into a federal jail by now.... I've torrented most of my games...

You sort of are. If people who bought builders club on Roblox.com switch over to RBXpri or RESL or RESBLOX or whatever, ROBLOX lost some money.

@Jordan, Not really, because they still need to have roblox and everything, plus, they aren't going around spamming "Come play this instead of regular servers".

Nope. They've paid by then. That, and you can't switch over. There is no forums, and we're not stealing their client for use in our own stuff.

Basically we've taken a modified version of RobloxApp.exe, which is freely available at a subdomain of roblox.com and redistributed it with its original copyrights.txt file, its content folder, the dependent DLLs and some Lua code.

there are no ads when you run the client, the client is basically just for running/editing games
The only ad revenue comes from this site

?

Don't throw around "ad revenue" whenever possible. Explain what the heck you're talking about in detail. What about revenue by advertisement?

So what does it access? Does someone host a server and people join it, or does roblox host the game and the server that you join?

Ok, rbxpri takes users away from the roblox website thus causing a loss of ad revenue, though not a very good case, it is a valid one.

What do you mean by "what does it access?" Someone hosts a privately owned server, gets the RPTP2 and/or CJoinEx strings through a converter, and posts those RPTP2 and/or CJoinEx strings in a public forum, or shares them through other means. Then, the client uses those strings to connect without the real IP being revealed.

Nope. I can argue that by the time a user has received a copy of RBXPri, they've played Roblox for a certain amount of time, without clicking on ads for Roblox. Also, since this is a tightly wound community, you must know of Roblox to use RBXPri. We're NOT going to take any profit away from Roblox.

I was just wondering if the modded client accessed roblox in anyway, that could be deemed illegal for a few reasons depending on what the client accessed or tried to access. But since you are saying this is hosted by an individual's personal server I am not seeing much grounds for legal trouble.
