I got almost straight A's in 7th grade (one test in science made me drop down to a B+). In 8th, EVERY class was terrible.
In English, we were half a year behind the rest of the district, but we still went really slowly. Also, we had to write about our feelings a bunch, and do a ton of weird poetry (SOME poetry is good), and I didn't do well in that.
Art was a nightmare. We got graded on our skills instead of creativity. We didn't even do much art. Just researching a bunch of artists from a list the teacher made.
In math, I was ahead the year before. I asked my teacher if I could go ahead in the book like last year and he said no. I got discouraged, didn't study as much, and ended up falling behind.
Science. Terrible. My parents LOVE geology and geography. I know a bunch about the subject, even though I hated it. My teacher didn't know much, and hated it when I knew the answer to the question. In fact, I got in trouble in science three times that year. We also had to do a report on which was faster "P waves or S waves" using a flimsy experiment. Over 50% of the class got the wrong answer.
Performing Arts was perhaps the second worst class. In addition to being the mandatory replacement for P.E, we had to do daily assignments in the class. Also, I practiced ALL year for the talent show, and then it was cancelled for ALINE IN WONDERLAND ._.

tl;dr version 8th grade = worst school year of my life. If I had went to public school, I would have been able to take honors courses.

Wait, this was a PRIVATE school?
WOW. Preforming arts MANDATORY?
Not testing the experiment first?
Researching artists in ART?
And this is a PRIVATE SCHOOL? |

| My friend's school had a new rule that if your over 120 pounds then you get a D or an F depending on how heavy you are. I think your parents were expecting too much |

Also, this was a semi-private school. $250 a year, but we had public school curriculum.

| Well I think my friend said some people didn't participate in P.E so doing that would make them want to excercise more to lose weight. That's a bad school though it's one of the worse school in our area. There was a girl that got stabbed there too because she saw this kid's knife and he freaked out and stabbed her. She didn't make it either. |

Wow.
@Pichu
Semi-private, I see.
But isn't P.E. a part of the public school curriculum? |

Isn't it unhealthy for tall people to weigh under 120 lbs...?

"Isn't P.E. a part of the school curriculum?" Yes, but this was an art school. Performing Arts counted as P.E, but I barely got a workout.

@Im
That must suck.
There are so many elementary schools in our local district(Last time I checked, it was like 15, and this only covers what, 3 towns?).
And fifth graders reading at kindergarten levels? What, did they learn how to read in 4th grade? My god. |

@Noob
It just shows that some schools do a terrible job at educating students.
That or they sleep a lot in class. I dunno.
