| What is the scripter's preferred operating system? I would assume some distro of linux such as ubuntu. Most scripts are mande on linux then used for windows, correct. So unless I am wrong some distro of linux is the best. Discuss? |

Lolno. Most people who make programs for Windows make them on Windows, it's be incredibly pointless to make it in Linux and then have to switch to Windows to build it (because, nota bene, nearly every compiler only compiles for the system you're running at compile time). The exception to this is those who program cross-platform products, but even then they must have Windows still, and sometimes they'll actually do their coding under Windows.
tl;dr: Nope, that would be very pointless. |

| That's not something to yay about, when someone calls you a Linux hipster it means one of two things: You're really good with technology and you feel too cool to use anything proprietary, and instead feel that something that is open source and thus you can change very freely is better for you, or, as I stated you are, you're technologically oblivious and have no really solid reasons for using it or for why you think it's cooler other than "it runs faster" and "it's virus free". |

| I like Ubuntu for its speed. I still dual boot it with Windows for compatibility, though. |

You cannot argue anything about Vista as a technically oblivious Linux hipster, or you have to at the same time argue about Windows 7, something that is for some reason so amazing praised over Vista since everyone for some unexplainable reason ignores that they are the same operating system, except that 7 has a fancier UI and native TRIM support, the former of which doesn't really improve much and the latter is completely useless to most people since it deals with SSDs. |

jode6543, I'd have to disagree with the mac being greater than Windows and Linux when it comes down to the preferred OS (for scripting)

You'd be stupid to do Roblox scripting on Linux because you don't have Roblox easily available for testing.
For C++ programming however, Linux' package management is a huge win, If I want to try out some library, I can just grab a library from the package repository using the command line and include the header / lib in about 30 seconds. That's the main reason I use Linux over Win7. I'm posting this from Ubuntu which I've used for 99% of my time on the computer in the last two years (I only ever drop to windows once and a while when I want to test something on Roblox, which has been about 10 times in the last couple years) |

"but can we all agree that"
No, because Windows 7 is the same thing as Vista. Sure is derp around here.
@Julien: Lulz, honestly, no one except the people behind the GNU project care that much (Fedora rightfully calls it GNU/Linux but doesn't care about people calling it just Linux). It's also quite silly in my opinion, when people refer to Linux distros by calling them Linux and not GNU/Linux they do so because it is based off of the Linux kernel, and they could care less about GNU wanting credit for their software that's in there. In fact, GNU shouldn't even care that much on their own, they call themselves a completely free software foundation without any patents or anything of the sorts, just as long as you include a legal notice as per the licenses of some of their products stating that you used their software, and that's that. Trying to go beyond what they promise just so they can get some recognition is dumb, most people who use a Linux distro know who the GNU team is (even if they say on their site "oh, no, statistics say most people using GNU/Linux don't even know what GNU is..." I'm calling bull on that, it's probably either an older statistic or taking advantage of the fact that there are a lot of Linux hipsters who dual boot and don't use their Linux boot that often, but still say they use it anyways. Those are the people that probably don't know what GNU is, and they don't really use it anyways. Their statistic should be based around the more hardcore Linux users who are under Linux a large amount of their time, then it could be more accurate, even if you want to call it biased, sometimes you have to in arguments). |

Like I said, last 2 years. Have I made any games in that time? No, just a couple Love2D demos and various Lua tools which don't actually have any Roblox dependent code in them. |

And LÖVE2D is available on GNU/Linux! =D
pokelover, that type of reasonment is exactly what I hate.
You don't care? I do. And that's why I ask you to call it GNU/Linux. Don't want to? Fine. But you should. |
