Of course there would be the plain terrain demonstrated in the video... But you also said there would be more types of terrain. Just a few suggestions:
Snowy: Generates with more hills and mountains. Terrain texture is a snowy white.
Wasteland: Generates with a few hills, but no mountains and a lot of craters. Terrain is completely colored a dull beige.
Otherworld: Generates with a lot of large floating islands floating above an ocean of mysterious green goo. Islands may contain craters, but will never naturally generate mountains. Terrain is colored a rocky brown, with occasional red splatters.
Mirror: Generates half of a regular terrain area, then mirrors it along the halfway point. Good for team games.
Quarters: Generates one fourth of a regular terrain area, then is copied and mirrored along each fourth of the map.
Team Game: Generates terrain close to the half area, then generates a large castle wall that separates the identical sides.
-------
Just a few ideas. Feel free to post more if you have any or comment on how mine are. I don't think they want to hear "No triangles" or "Ore underground" or anything else copying a different popular block game, so don't bother with that. |

Pretty cool. And also, some other ideas:
Valley: Ground is colored a bright green, with grassy texture and very little terrain modification other than very small hills.
Volcanic Plain: Ground is colored a mixture of black and grey, with a little bit of orange. The main terrain has a rocky texture, and slopes downward and outward from a central mountain. The mountain has a deep crater atop it, and the inside is full of "lava". |

Or simple MC style for default generation.
When they release it, you can generate your own custom terrain types, you just need the materials.
Grass, Dirt, Stone, Sand, Gravel, etc.
I think we should be able to texture our terrain as we want it, and add different types. But simple additions to the types would be fine for now.

Bad idea. It just takes away the need for us to build for ourselves. |

| I like the new terrain, but.....it will take away much of the quality in some games because it wasn't hand-built. |

I've got a few ideas for terrain types.
Underground: Rocky and full of holes for access to underground tunnels.
Tall mountain: Hence the name.
Battle ground: Mostly flat, but with two large hills to build castles and such.
Islands: You can choose the number of islands the Terrain Generator makes.
Asteriod field: A bunch of rocks floating in space. You can choose how dense the field is.
City (without buildings): Full of plateaus with roads connecting them and underground tunnels for sewers and secret passages...
Anyone else have any ideas? |
