With the impending doom of category 3 hurricane Irene on the east coast, what are your plans?
I live in Virginia, which isn't quite the best place to be for this hurricane. My mom's hospital (where she works) usually provides shelter for family members, but for some unknown reason, the #&%^s decided not to this time around. So, she's thinking about getting a hotel room near her work that we can stay at while she works (they make all staff members come in during states of emergency). It'll be my first time alone in a hotel room, can't wait to wreck it! |

They just over react. Hurricanes happen all the time. No big deal. |

No. I still remember Isabel from when I was younger. I remember the damage, the flooding, no power for a week. Isabel was just a category 1. Irene is a 3. |

It is expected to hit Hatteras in NC by Friday night as a category 3, move up the coast, and make landfall in (I think) New York as a category 2 by Monday. |

If power goes out this time, it'll possibly be longer than a week, as Irene is expected to be more damaging than Isabel. |

After making landfall in New York, it's supposed to move up New England and make it's way into Newfoundland as a category 1 or tropical storm. |

This is why I want hurricanes to hit Florida, Alabama, Texas, or Georgia. People aren't prepared for even tropical storms in any other state.
Nobody really knows that Katrina passed through Florida while it was a category 4. Why? THEY WERE PREPARED. |

Most hurricanes do hit one of the more southern coastal states, and by the time they reach Virginia, they are either tropical storms or tropical depressions. Isabel entered in through Hatteras Island, which is the same way Irene is supposed to hit (though Isabel continued along into the continental US, while Irene is supposed to stay coastal). |
