Dynamic shadows/Ambient shadows was a nice update, but there really isn't much point in having dynamic shadows without dynamic lighting, or at least in my opinion. Dynamic lighting on multiple objects could spruce up dungeons, light up torches in caves, give players working flashlights to search in haunted mansions, or make a lantern stand out hanging on a dormant tree in a dark map. It could put lights on a robloxian submarine, making each light inside of it glimmer through the round windows, casting shadows on the ocean floor. Not only would dynamic lighting add to the realism of roblox, it would give many opportunities for robloxians to express their creativity, and ultimately, it would change roblox forever. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for my grammar, lol. :D

Yup. Dynamic lighting as been asked for since 2007, but I think there is a boundary... lag. :x

Telamon said on his twitter its insanely hard to program. Games such as WoW don't have true dynamic lighting.

MC and BL has pretty good lighting. I think that ROBLOX can make good lighting without lag. MC has no lag in dynamic lighting.

I think i might be able to mash a script up for dynamicish lighting but the proccess would revolve around making thousands of blocks and the result wouldnt be very pretty or lagg effective however on somthing like a flash light it would be possible

There was a notification with a link to a poll. The poll had a question, "Would you like to use flashlights in-game?" I'm pretty sure they're working on a lot of other stuff too.
By the way, I went on Studio settings and couldn't find a switch for ambient shadows... |

Ambient shadows only work if your FPS is 30+. Unfortunately, I am always at 29 FPS. >:O

It may be insanely hard to program, but it's possible. Once it's all done, It will be 1000% worth it, for sure.

@ MasterDaniel Well, maybe roblox can shine a light in gaming technology, say that it's possible, and no matter how hard it is, shine through

ive been kind of doing tests for dynamic lighting on surfaces. but as was mentioned, it insanely laggy. and i just do a little bit like basic surface light differences and it runs laggy. so it would be a gaming milestone if roblox could make dynamic lighting run good.

We should keep this tread alive until an admin comments. When that happens, I'll be very happy that at least some admin/dev is working on it. Lol.

Roblox should at least attempt to make it work, and if it lags, so what, they can go into different ways of solving that. Yes it's possible, and yes, it may be difficult to program, but, through it all, it will be worth the trouble. Roblox also will be famous for having successfully attempted to add dynamic lighting in-game. It's a very good idea, and would be a very great thing to have on roblox.

I don't know if that made sense, but you get my point. I think. Lol. |

@latvian, MC does not have true dynamic lighting. Dynamic lighting would mean that people may have to use gaming computers.

I have a gaming computer. I guess roblox will either find a way around lag or just have people who have computers that can handle it do it. I think that either way would be a good idea. It would give people with older computers the chance to upgrade if they aren't able to see the new features, and for the people that could see the new features, I guess... good for them. :)

Dynamic lighting has been suggested over 500 times in the forums. I'd think that roblox understands that this is a truely "NEEDED" (not just wanted) feature. Lol.

@shotokan546, actually MC has dynamic lighting. And BL has dynamic lighting too... And those games doesn't need gaming pc. My old laptop wasn't even close to gaming pc.
