"... It's do or die now!"
With that, the sergeant stabbed once, twice, thrice into the body of the charging mail-armored swordsman, who fell under his onslaught. Hid followers let out a hearty war-cry and braced themselves for the incoming swordsmen and spearmen. They could not hope to stop the tide of the black army, but by the gods they will send as many of them as possible to the grave. The ragged band of militiamen fought desperately for not just their lives, but the lives of their family, their king, and their country, against a force that totally dominates their size. They stabbed down at the soldiers climbing the barricades. They fought valiantly and with spirit, taking many down with them as each one fell. Soon, the battlefield was filled with heaps of mailed knights and conscripted spearmen, as the militia continue to fight teeth and nail, using their spear and shield. They stood their ground and wouldn't budge under the onslaught. They seemed invincible for a moment.
Alas, the enemy's superior numbers overwhelmed them. They were slain, one by one, until the enemy poured through gaps in the rank, hacking and stabbing left and right. The remaining militia found themselves isolated in a heaving mass of soldiers, each soldier wanting to mount the heads of the militia on pikes. They fought to their last breath, fighting like never before. 120 men died that day. They took 580 invaders with them.
The enemy army yelled their bloody victory to the sky as the last militiaman slumped to the ground, a sword in his chest. The tattered white and yellow striped flag of the Serryn Militia was burned, a black flag with a soaring golden eagle, the royal Holy Empire standard, took its place.
The next day, they march on Serryn, Gateway to the Capital of the White States, Eorm.
You were a simple peasant living at Serryn when the grim tidings of the battle reached you. You remember when the town's motley militia was sent to the pass to defend the border. Back then, no one really thought that the Holy Empire could amass an army large enough to breach a packed canyon pass of spearmen. Evidently, they did. Now, they march on Serryn, your home. The enemy army would arrive within two weeks, as they are waiting for supplies and more men. The king has sent out a request that everyone in the village must contribute to the war effort. He has sent what is left of his army to help defend the village and construct defenses, for Serryn must not fall under the heel of the enemy.
If Serryn is taken, all will be lost.

Though, the battle part was a bit of a stretch. |

I don't need to, I am an inquisitor. So, I lead a one-man crusade of heretic sentencing.
In the name of Ganondorf Dragmire. |

You are your own confession.
And inquisitors (In the times that they are present) don't need evidence, or a confession.
Just a sentence. |
