You won't learn in 3 days. I've been scripting for 2 years, and I still barely know anything about it. |

| ... If you can't script, get off of these forums unless you actually have a script YOU wrote, checked the output, and still couldn't figure it out. You are going to be ignored if you keep doing that just so you know. |

| It shouldn't be too hard. I just started scripting again after 1 year and I caught onto more advanced sections then what I was doing before. |

| If you say "plz" because it's shorter than "please", I'll say "no" because it's shorter than "yes". |

Seriously, go to the wiki. I don't care if you complain about how hard it is to understand. If you think it is hard, START at the BASIC section and then go to the advanced parts.

I learned a whole lot from the wiki about Lua. Now I'm learning Gmod wiki and thanks to the Roblox Wiki,it seems easy as hell.

This is what I'm wondering... Wiki, in my case, doesn't help me. I mean, it get's confusing. And tutorials, for me, just do what teachers tell 'helpers' not to do. That is give them the answer. Sure, put this in the script and you get this... Well, what if I want this? Oh, it won't work... What do I do? Nothing? Turns out you must re-write it completely different.
I know how to alter scripts, like wait time and stuff. But I can't write it from scratch... I'd prefer a more in-person teaching, where I can ask and get a demonstration and so-on.
Right now I'm trying to create my own script for a light like thing, and I just got stuck on the area of making the one switch's transparency:1... Output says: Workspace.Light.On.Script:2: 'name' expected near '1' (Add <> around "name"...something about Anti-HTML posting)What "name"? I've never seen that form before...
So I'm stuck teaching myself, fine by me.
But I learn by looking at other model's script. :3 --Note: Not to clutter this guy's forum post; if you want to help me, PM me-- |

This is how i learnt, the wiki can help you out with some things. I learnt scripting by looking over scripts say i decided to look at a brick of lava
function onTouch(part) part.BrickColor = BrickColor.new("Bright red") part:BreakJoints() end
script.Parent.Touched:connect(onTouch) i learn how to use the connection and the function and hoow to change brick color from 1 script then i did the same with onclick. Now i can creat trap doors lava and much more just dont copy off of other scripts make it your own but learn how to use it by looking at other scripts and what they do. |

| Exactly. By looking at other scripts, I basically "modify" it but in my own script and model. But I fail either way... :\ |

Hey, everybody fails in their own way. :3
Anyway, that's what I do. There's this thing called Scratch I like to use. It's WAY easier than Roblox, but I had to teach myself what to do. Sometimes I download other people's projects just to see how they do something.
I know absolutely nothing about scripting on here, but now I'm going to try and hope I don't fail. :3 |

| Hey, I want to be able to script. How do you start at a thing like this? People are saying to use Youtube -- others are saying to use the Wiki. What should I use? Wiki, Youtube, or both? |

1. FIX YOUR GRAMMAR! 2. Learn to script at wiki.roblox.com (mostly there) 3. Make your scripts
Later ask here for help if you will need, you can also help people if you will be good, but im suspecting you will never pass 1. |
