>Charles Darwin, creator of evolution
He didn't even 'create' evolutionary theory. The idea had been around since Malthus. |

Probably not, but I can't blame anyone for having that opinion, seeing as the more religious they are the easier it is to get under their skin. |

I believe we did evolve to a certian extent.
I think God made the first humans, but we have evolved over the years. |

^THANK YOU.
Why cant we ever think that God was smart enough to make us self-sufficient and evolve on our own.
It makes sense, and is a perfect compromise. |

Christianity.
God took some mud, and sculpted a rudimentary mud man, then took part of his rib and made some woman thing. Then this rib-woman couldn't`t keep to her damn self and stop-talking (women, amirite fellas?), and started talking to a magical talking snake. Except it wasn't a snake, it was the shape-shifting manifestation of all that is evil. Because you know, bad things don`t happen because of human error, herpaderp there is a semi-deity responsible for all those mistakes.
Anyways, then she got this idea to try eating fruit from some special tree believing it would make her like god, and god, threatened by not being special anymore; banished them forever from his foresty kingdom. Leaving Adam and Eve in the world of mortals and forever wondering why he didn't invent some kind of room to sequester Eve and other like her in.
And then God made the kitchen.

I dont mean JUST Christianity, as all religions have a god.
I think it's easier just to call him God, it is more generic. |

| I dont think a belief in god is inherintly bad, but when people start telling other people "you're doing it wrong" issues arise. |

I never do that.
I don't understand why a religion would encourage bashing others.
Not to offend anyone, but is it true that Muslims are encouraged to denounce people who follow other religions, or is that just some random lie I heard on the internet? |

Im going to let a Muslim answer that, but OHMYGOD why are Christian people on the internet seemingly more awesome than IRL ones. The IRL ones suck. |

@Alt I was referring to modern evolutionary theory, which includes natural selection, something that makes it much more scientific than, say, Lamarckism.
If you want to get technical, the ancient Greeks thought of evolution too. |

The reference to mud obviously refers to God taking mass from Earth, and re-arranging it into biological matter. The reference to taking one of Adam's ribs obviously refers to God slightly modifying DNA he took from Adam's organs and using that blueprint to create a female human. The snake, which was known to Eve to be an especially cautious animal (and thus would cause even more surprise when one started talking to her), was being manipulated by a being who wanted to challenge God's right to rule over him, and wished to instill that same rebellion into humans, by targeting the younger and less experienced of the two. Thus inciting her to eat from a tree with particularly nice fruit which God withheld so as to give humankind free will in their choice of whether to obey God as their ruler and receive his blessing, or rule themselves and be for the most part ignored by God. |

We`ve already seen that biological matter can be produced naturally, and some ammino acids are found in commets. Rudementary cell membranes can form randomly from lipids, but we`re still working on how to get a metabolism and DNA/RNA in there.
That has to be THE greatest explanation of metaphors in scripture ever though. It made sense to me, and im as skeptical as they get. |

SLIGHTLY?
They're have to have a range of almost every human trait between the two of them, including almost every hereditary disease we know of. Besides, humans did not come from abiotic material. We are a product of evolution. |

Then be more specific. No one 'created' evolution, or even evolutionary theory. |

Listen, many of you may be ignorant of the fact that NOT ALL Christians don't believe in evolution... I believe in evolution, and I am A CHRISTIAN! (Well, I define my self as a ration theist; (look it up).) I don't simply accept that one day god just "made humans" I believe he started the entire process, and let it run its course.
There is just too much evidence for evolution to be "a lie". Anymore, I think it could be considered a "fact", not a "theory". Sorry to burst your bubble, fundamentalist's. |
