If he stereotypes and says that Linux users are too poor to buy him chicken, he's dead wrong. Think about it, with the release of a Linux port will also come a group of hardcore programmers, leading to quality games. Now they ported to the Mac, it should be easy to port to Linux, and would make my life better. |

"it should be easy to port to Linux" Oh, by all means. They just have to hire new developers, each of which would earn somewhere around 60-80 thousand dollars a year. Then, work on the port for probably a few months before it reaches a testable state. And then, all the money and time they spent doing this is suddenly worth it.
Sorry to break it to you, but that's not exactly how business works. Linux is too complicated for average kids to be using, so I don't assume that its users are in Roblox's target demographic. Plus, from what I've seen of "Linux elitists", most of them consider themselves to be above doing things like buying BC. After all, why buy a service from Roblox when you're already getting most of the best features for free. So, considering that I've ruled out both profit and community from porting this game to Linux, there's not a whole lot of valid argument out there to support your claims.
I'm not saying that it wouldn't be nice to port Roblox to Linux, it's just completely impractical from a business point of view. |

Thank you, somebody else no this forum agrees with me. I argued the same point on antoher thread, it costs more money than its worth, new technicians, etc... And there are not many people on linux.
There is no point to put onto linux. The cons severly outweigh the pros. |

Erm.
Wasn't ROBLOX meant for ALL humans ag.ed between 4 and 104? So what if most of their target demographic can hardly use a computer? If they port to Linux, I'm certain that would bring a bunch of experts on porgramming and building; not just flaming and whining. I'd like to see more technologically in-the-know people playing ROBLOX as well.
Of course, that would be a lot of work for ROBLOX, and only the whiny ones really want BC(looks at self o_o). |

| Why does everything think that because something isn't released right now, it means they've intentionally stopped work on it for some stupid reason? |

Because they take so long.
They announced DP and the trading system LONG ago, and people get really impatient. It doesn't help that they don't provide a release date. |

"Oh, by all means. They just have to hire new developers, each of which would earn somewhere around 60-80 thousand dollars a year."
Do you know how much money Roblox pulls in each month? More than a million, implying that they would get way over $12 million a year. $60 to $80 thousand a year is nothing in a multi-millionaire game company. Creating a Linux port would create a new type of audience who would be appealed to this website, and join.
"Then, work on the port for probably a few months before it reaches a testable state. And then, all the money and time they spent doing this is suddenly worth it."
If it has potential to bring in thousands of users, it sure will be worth it.
"Sorry to break it to you, but that's not exactly how business works. Linux is too complicated for average kids to be using, so I don't assume that its users are in Roblox's target demographic."
Are you implying that it is impossible for a 14 year ol.d to be attracted to Roblox? Roblox might be made for a younger audience, but the goal in Roblox (building and scripting) can definitely attract a Linux user into playing (well, everyone's different, and not everyone would be attracted here, but that's a different story).
"Plus, from what I've seen of "Linux elitists", most of them consider themselves to be above doing things like buying BC. Linux users might not buy BC, but that doesn't mean they can't encourage others. If a new player who's considering to buy a membership comes and sees a laggy "LIV IN 5 STAR HOTL OMG" (not insulting SONIC, haha), do you think the player would buy BC? No, he'd probably think, "What the heck? Is this a joke, I can play other games such as Craftmine or Landblock." Linux users are completely different. They polish up their work as much as possible. They think about what entertains the average player, if it would be worth making, efficiency, etc.. That all ends up to the perfect game we all love, and if a player who is about to buy BC sees it, they'd most probably get inspiration, and the willingness to buy. And when that happens, and when the epical Linux builder/scripter gets a ton of place visits, it might encourage them to buy BC too. |

Precisely why I'm polishing my place. :P My survival game's system is a lot better than davidii's. :P |

Emess has made good points.
Remember, that now that there is a Mac release ROBLOX has dropped the frameworks that made roblox only previously available for Windows. A surprising number of the top game creators use Ubuntu.
ROBLOX could use WINE to save them a bit of time on the port. Would they even need to hire another dev? |

They would need new programmers, liunux is another OS, and you need people with experience working with it.
And, youare all satying that linux users are some sort of super builders, and super scripters. There are probably very few of these, and if games like SONIC's are so terrible, then why are they so commonly on the front page? One game, you drive along a nearly endlass bridge. Thats holding a button for like 10 minutes or whatever. There were over 1000 people playing it.
The truth is, Roblox could make more profits if they themselves polished roblox, fixing the many issues we have.
I do not see any oppurtunity in porting to Linux. |

SunTzu8, you are looking at the dark side of the front page. I do realize that a lot of the games are terrible, but look at this:
http://www.roblox.com/Sandbox-NBC-item?id=46315274 http://www.roblox.com/Zombie-Apocalypse-Easy-Map-20-min-11-badges-item?id=36642363 http://www.roblox.com/Base-War-The-Land-v9-1-3m-Visited-Read-gui-item?id=18164449 http://www.roblox.com/Survive-The-90-Disasters-9-Maps-item?id=18540115 http://www.roblox.com/Survival-303-item?id=4321846 http://www.roblox.com/Imagination-item?id=113647
These games are wonderful (well, I think they are). They either have quality scripts, originality, fun, etc.. |

| It would be relatively easy for them to port it to Linux. No need to hire many extra developers. |
