I'm guessing Television in the UK is not a free service like it is here?
That sounds pricey fining someone over $2,000 just for not paying a TV tax. |

How is it red tape when you don't even know what it is? You pay for a TV license if you use a TV, the fee funds the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the largest, and the best, broadcasting company in the UK, which private companies, even Rupert Murdoch, couldn't beat. |

Technically it is (and the world service actually is funded directly from government) the government sets the budget and makes specific criteria, it's just the fee is seen as a larger sum to pay (it is, afterall, the largest broadcaster in the world). |
