[||] Sword Fighting Tournament Game Guide v3 [||] [|] By Unmoved [|]
[|] Table of Contents [I] Introduction [II] The Game >Introduction >Game Modes >Maps >Weapons >Players [III] Tactics and Tips [IV] Credits
[I] The Introduction TheGamer101's Sword Fighting Tournament (SFT) has been a huge success over the past 8-12 months. When I first became a good friend of Gamer's, it was at around 600,000 visits (check that, Gamer). I had been at a loss for real games to play for a while, so I was just foruming. This is the time I was known as a troll, and got a large reputation for trolling and flaming. But that's beside the point. The real topic here is Gamer's amazing game. I know that this isn't much of an introduction, but I hope that the content can make up for it.
[II] The Game >Introduction to The Game< The Game. You just lost it. But really, this game is an amazing game. It has fairly simple scripting that works together with the fairly simple maps to make a great combination of styles and gameplay options. There are multiple bonus rounds and the tournaments are around 3-5 minutes long, allowing for a decent amount of play time in a rush. If you want to be able to play an extremely fast game of sword fighting, I'd recommend BCGames' Quick Sword Fighting (Sorry Gamer).
[>Game Modes<] There are multiple game modes in this game, and I'll take the time to explain them all to the n00bs who don't understand them. But in order to play, you have to hit "Duel" on the GUI to the left.
:Tournaments: In tournaments, you have 2-3 rounds. The first round is the preliminaries (is that the right word?), where you face off against one player and whoever wins moves onto the next bracket. It continues this way until a winner is found. A "bye" means that your turn was skipped, either because your opponent was beaten or he left (or possibly other reasons that I'm not sure about).
:2v2 Bonus Round: If you get a 2v2 bonus round, there are two teams who each have two players on each team. It's a fairly fast bonus round, and betting on the right team could possibly earn you a decent amount of points.
:Survival Bonus Round: This bonus round, Survival, is basically a free-for-all containing all the players who are currently in Duel mode. You are spawned randomly on the map, and you have one life. Survive!
:3v1 Bonus Round: In a 3v1 bonus round, there are two teams again, but one team has three people and one team has just one player. The one player facing against the three people get's extra health, 100 for each person, to be exact, and has to beat the other three. Don't get swarmed! If you're on the 3-player team, try to keep a long sword and stay with your teammates so the Juggie can't really focus on you well.
:Team Deathmatch Bonus Round: In a Team Deathmatch bonus round, there are two teams with balanced amounts of players, most often 4v4 (Because of balancing, you might not be able to be in this one! Sorry!) . You face off against another team with the same amount of players. Around the last 2 people on one team, things start getting confusing. Nobody can decipher which player is on their team, and you have to swipe at random people to see if they're an enemy.
:Juggernaught Bonus Round: In Juggernaught, you have two teams again, but one team has just one player while the other team contains all the players currently on Duel mode. That one player, that Juggernaught, has 100 health per each person on the other team. As a team, try to swarm him, use high-damage swords (such as the dagger and Energy Sword), and stay alive! As the Juggernaught, try to use a longsword and stay away from a swarm or you'll be dead in seconds.
:The Golden One Bonus Round: In the Golden One, there one player who starts off as the Golden One. You are on a team, and you have to kill the Golden One in order to become him. You cannot hurt your teammates, and the way to win the Golden One is to stay alive the longest when you are the Golden One. Even if you died you might still win!
:2v2v2 Bonus Round: 2v2v2 is just like the title states. It's a 2v2 with another team, and each team spawns on a third of the map. One team will be at a disadvantage, spawning in the middle, and will probably lose unless they get out of there. Stay alive and remember your partner!
:Grudge Match Bonus Round: One of my favorite bonus rounds, I was with Gamer when he came up with and tested this idea. One player, the Avenger, gets to choose a target at the beginning of the game. When he chose his target, the Target will have two guards. The Avenger has to get through the guards to kill the unarmed target in order to win. He has more walkspeed but the same health, and the Target will be completely defenseless. Seems easy, right? Wrong. The Guards can use any weapons they want, and they have to protect the Target at all costs whether they live or die.
:King of the Hill Bonus Round: In King of the Hill, there is a hill in the center that is the focal point of this gametype. You need to get to the hill and control it. The person to control the hill longest wins!
:Sword Progression Bonus Round: I was also with Gamer when he tested this one, and it is a lot of fun at times. In order to win, you have to progress through every sword. In order to get to the next sword in the order, you need to kill a player with your current sword. I created the order in which this works, putting the hardest swords at the end (Dagger, Board). Despite the constant spawnkilling, it is a great gametype to play. Teaches you how to use certain swords.
[>Maps<] If you want to make a map, get the map template (http://www.roblox.com/Map-size-template-item?id=37627065) Then PM TheGamer101 the map or post it on this thread, he may add it.
:Normal: This map is a great map for tournaments, and is one of the best in the game. Use the terrain in your favor, and stay on the low ground. Try to find an area with balanced terrain plates, and stay there. Falling will raise your arms, so you can't attack people below you. If you have an Energy Sword, it's a good idea to stay on low ground, or go on the bridge and swipe people while falling off of it (it's a difficult maneuver to explain).
:Ice: One of the most hated maps in the game, you'll slip and slide all the way around the map. The Energy Sword has another bonus here, where you can move much faster than other players if you do a lunge (Double-click). Sword Canes are fairly decent too, and Lunging will normally stop your motion.
:Cluttered: A fairly easy map, just like normal only it's overflowed with bridges everywhere. Try to stay on top of the bridges because you may get stuck if you go down under. Dynamic lighting would make this place look so much more cool.
:Maze: A good map for bonus rounds, such as Juggernaught or 2v2. When you have a long sword, try to kill people through walls. Other than that, stay away from walls and if you're the Juggernaught, use it like the Minotaur's maze and pick people off in the confusing sprawl.
:Conveyer: Don't really have any tactics for this one, but just treat it like it's Normal. There really isn't too much of a difference besides the constant motion and getting stuck on walls.
:Trampolines: [By Unholysoda] One of the most hated maps in the game, try to use a sword cane as it may keep you down on the ground long enough if you stand still. Or if you jump, it will attack people in the front of you, so keep that in mind. No other tactics, this map is horrid.
:Warehouse: [By Scazzard1] A very good, detailed map that can be alot of fun in Tournaments. Don't think that staying in that room at the top or being on top of the crane is going to help you, nobody will come to you and all it ever does is get me killed. But whatever, to each his own.
:Forest: [By ryan135792468] Forest is a decent map, and I suggest you stay on the low ground again. A sword cane won't do well here, but a dagger may.
:Hills: [By RadioActiveNoob1] A good map, it's simple and just like Normal. Just disregard the Hills, they're perfectly useless.
:Narrows: [By Unmoved] Yes, my map. Possibly the best map in the game, and that's not just me saying it. It's a skilled map, for skilled players. It was designed for team rounds and tournaments, and Juggernaught works unexpectedly well on it too. It's called Narrows for a reason; I still can't believe there are morons who don't walk on the narrow paths that are given to you. When you walk on the black, you lose health very randomly. But one thing's for sure; you'll die before you get to the other side if you walk on the black ground. Try to get to the center and control that area, you'll face off eventually.
[>Weapons<]
:The Dagger: TheGamer101's favorite sword, it's cheap and effective. When in close quarters, it can deal 1-2 hit kills in seconds. Be wary of longswords, though, and Darkhearts might be a nuisance since you're in their range.
:The Golden Katana: My personal favorite sword, it has a long range, a cheap price, and good damage. It's also the only gold sword in the game, and it has a fair amount of balance integrated into it's design. It can lunge very well, and with 20 walkspeed, it will dominate.
:The Sword Cane: A decent sword, it lowers your walkspeed but eventually makes up for it when you get in range. It doesn't have a lunge, all you do is lash out with it. It has a good range and high damage, but that Walkspeed drop makes it very bad for use.
:The Energy Sword: My personal most hated sword, it gives you a boost when you lunge and jump, too. It's powerful, long, and unbalanced. I've won a duel by just spinning in circles with it. The noob's favorite weapon.
:The Elf Blade: A pretty bad sword, it does low damage and has a small range. For better use, use the Dagger's tactics.
:The Spiked Club: It's actually a decent sword, but before the patch suggested by many players, it was a 1 hit kill in most cases. It doesn't have a lunge, you just drop the club on the heads of your targets. It still does a decent amount of damage, but it takes about 3-4 hits now to kill.
:Board With a Nail in It: Possibly the most humiliating sword to kill with, it's just like the club on a slightly longer range and less damage. It's fun to use though, and I once won a tournament with it.
:The Venomshank: A longsword, it does good damage against opponents, but not with actual sword damage; it poisons them! It will poison your enemies which will slowly diminish their health into nothing. Stay out of range with it and you'll by Al Capwn!
:Dual Swords: [by idontkno] Decent swords, they are cool to use but do bad damage, see Board With a Nail in It.
:Firebrand: Another decent sword, it does high amounts of damage and has a long range, but really isn't as good as it seems. Use it like what it is; a longsword. Stay out of range.
:Darkheart: A good sword, it has a short range but high damage and heals you with hits! Kill an opponent and you'll have alot of your health healed, almost completely! It breaks, which is a good balancer, and it may get you flamed constantly because of how overpowered it is.
[>The Players<] There are many types of players you may encounter in this game, some who can spell, some who can't...
:The Noob: Most often wearing cheap hats (Under 100 robux), will constantly complain about "hackers" and "cheating" when they get killed. They'll also be spawnkilled and cry about that too. Probably has numbers in their names and will never use proper grammar or spelling.
:The Speedhacker: When these idiots are in your game, it'll cause some problems. They more often than not think that they are "hackers", and try to say they are the best in the game. They'll probably be really bad at the game in reality, and will be easy targets for you.
:The Egotistical Little Kid: These kids are the most annoying out of all of them. They have qualities of a n00b, in which they complain when they get killed, but they do use grammar and spelling. They're often decent at the game, but will still get owned by the best of players and then proceed to complain about the enemy's lack of skill. Probably uses Energy Swords or Darkhearts.
[III] Tactics and Tips Here is a list I compiled of tactics and tips you can use. [Tactics] -With longswords, stay out of range of your opponent but stay in range so you can hit them with the tip of your sword. -Swerve around your enemies, if you can -Figure out if you use Shortswords or Longswords. When you find your preference, stay with it. Practice it. -Always have a medkit around. -Cut corners when your enemy is running from you. -Use the map to your advantage. If your enemy is a n00b on Narrows, try to make them walk on the black by taking sharp turns constantly. Have them chase you, if you can. -Don't be afraid to spawnkill/backstab/typekill: it's all part of the game. [Tips] -Try to read their moves, if they come at you, walk around them and Lunge. If they wait back, wait back with them. -If you feel time is running out, just charge. No point in not trying. It's just a game. -Don't get too mad, it makes your gameplay much worse. This is true in any game you play. -Try to make friends, they'll be slower and easier targets ;D -Don't rush recklessly.
