| I've been wondering something for awhile: does Roblox's base run off Lua, or a different language like C, C++, Java, etc.? |

| Everything is in C/C++ as far as the client. ROBLOX Studio uses the MFC library, which is C/C++. |

Most of the game is in Lua, as of March 2010, when the new "up"dates came into place. Only the stuff that needs a high security is on the C-Side, such as connections.

Are you kidding? Roblox isn't in C++, only the thingy that connects to a server, and the thingy that parse's the Lua.

The ROBLOX Client is in C++... It uses MFC. |

| Roblox is Visual C++ not C#. It does not depend on the .Net Framework as C# would. |

@matchlighter: Visual C++ is an integrated development environment. Please learn the correct usage and meaning of terminology before you use it in an attempt to represent your level of intelligence as higher than it really is.
Anyway, it's all C++. Lua itself is C, but there really is no difference once you put it in a modern C++ compiler like Visual Studio. Charl3s7 was correct, Roblox uses MFC.
However, I do recall seeing a script somewhere that actually handled positioning characters on spawns, so I would presume that some of Roblox's "core" is written in Lua. |

True, but I don't like Visual Studio, or at least not the express edition. I haven't tried any of the paid editions. Does the paid edition freeze up less than the express edition?

@Hitya: So why are you here? Lua IS a scripting language. And this IS the scripting forum.

| If Visual Studio freezes up on your computer, then your computer simply sucks. |
