AS stated in the title, this is cooperative (although if you choose not to cooperate that is okay (but NOT recommended)) which means the players are working towards a common goal. Refer to the thread features setting for further details. However if you attempt to conquer the other races you will be ganged up on and swiftly dispatched.
You only have to skim the backstory but you must read the rules, thread features, and the CS
I won't have a CS
For some encounters I may use a stripped down D20 or D100 system (to keep things flowing)
Note: humans will not be a playable race (If you stick around you might be able to get an explanation out of me.) Other Note: This only takes place in 1 galaxy
Terminology (posted first so the backstory is understandable) Galactic Union: the close knit alliance of species/civilizations (which most players will be a member of) Galactic time units: for the purpose of having easy understanding to players both new and veteran we're assuming they are roughly equivalent to the earth time units. Void Band: a massive swath of uninhabitable systems with little mineral wealth that present a major obstacle to space exploration and colonization. It almost divides the galaxy in half. Hominid: a particular kind of ape (humans, chimps, gorillas, orangutans, and bonobos are the Earth Hominids) Universal translator- a device that can translate words from one language to another with a relative degree of accuracy (Put in for ease of thread playing.) FTL: Faster Than Light
Backstory: Eighteen standard galactic years ago the Galactic Union began a massive effort to explore and colonize planets beyond the Void Band. It met with relative success as a thinner part of the void band that was more easily traverse-able was found and ships could make it through, however it was still long distance and only the nearest systems could send communications successfully and often they were somewhat garbled. 15 standard galactic years after the colonies were established reports of attacks by an unknown race of sentients began to come in. Immediately a fleet was organized, however only a day after it launched there was a transmission that was extremely garbled, almost as though it was being scrambled, the only easily defined part of it was a shout of "Oh [god equivalent] they're here!" then it blanked out. Since that point no more transmissions arrived. When the fleet arrived they found all of the planets to be irradiated unto the point of being uninhabitable, there was no evidence of any survivors. Some video feed was recovered from a ship that had crashed on a moon, it showed large metal bipeds, likely some kind of combat suit, boarding the ship, the rest of the data was corrupted. The only other recoverable and useful video feed was found on the suit of a dead engineer and gave a surprisingly detailed description of the battle. The audio data was also partially usable. From what was gathered a massive fleet of ships of a design that had only shown up about the time the attacks started was coming out of warp. Bits of audio feed with notable audio evidence included "If only the idiot *crzz* hadn't attacked" then the audio went to static but the video feed continued, the engineer was working furiously at his cmputer trying to keep the ship stabalized despite the extremely rapid rate of the damage bieng inflicted. Then there stopped being damage on the ship and another usable bit of audio "... boarding *crzz* if this is found tell my family I lo*crzz*em" the engineer then picked up his rifle and hunkered down. Then a lot of the video was unusable, with only a few tidbits of extremely intense combat. Finally there was a video bit showing a nearly hairless, bipedal hominid carrying an unknown design of firearm. The last bit of audio recovered was "say good night" from the hominid and then the gun fired. The recording ended there. A far more disturbing report was brought in by the investigation, the navigation computer on the ship had been carefully removed and most other records erased.
Before the investigation could proceed further however several FTL signatures were detected. Given the evidence form the wreckage and the absolute devastation left behind, the fleet was likely to be unable to fight more than a few battle and would suffer heavy casualties.
Thread Features High Galactic Council- a government to decide the general direction of the Union. Each faction within the Galactic Union sends 3 representatives and a collective vote is made for some things. Although factions have defied the council before and may do so again.
Rules Use common sense Don't be stupid Think before you post I am the only one that controls the hostile new race of hominids You do not have infinite resources Developing tech takes time Do not godmod I may tell you a unit is too powerful At any time I may deny a certain action of a player if I feel that it is impossible. I will deal with threats to the smooth flow of this as best I can and accordingly All sheets must be accepted No planet destroying weapons No gravity gun type weapons (though a render rifle is fine (refer to Alternity D20)) No black hole weapons No dark matter weapons, they do nothing anyhow (just made atoms vibrate funny) Anti-matter is still allowed (they're different) No shield or plating is completely invulnerable Shields cannot block true light weapons (you have to think of something other than that to deal with it) Nuclear warheads don't explode when shot, however it may cause them not to explode. You have a large population, remember that. NO PSIONICS!

(THey wouldn't look human. Armor coursing through veins is an impossibility a .22 SMG couldn't even penetrate trooper armor an obsidian shield would be shattered before you got 5 feet against even militia grade units. Not accepted due to defying of rule #1)
(Other note I forgot to say: You may have more than 1 unit (heck if I did a sheet there would be 20 or more)) |

Faction name: Rareonce (The government that unites the Weavers) Species:Weavers Culture: (not required) Primary Weapons/Defenses technologies:Tend to use their soulswords in fights, however they also carry a variety of explosives to help in combat. Also have guns incase they run out of energy to use their SoulSword. Their SoulShields are their only usual defense. They have created a variety of mechs, spaceships, and aerospace fighters they they also use in combat. The mechs and fighters normally only used by the weakest Weavers, considering the strong ones can easily destroy mechs and can intercept an aerospace fighter mid-flight and send it crashing. Advantages: Natural powers that benefit greatly, good tolerance to pain, VERY little fears. Very agile and very powerful. The real Weavers are VERY hard to destroy in a fight.(Problem with that in disadvantages) Disadvantages: A Weavers element can get the best of them sometimes(You'll see what I mean after you see a RageWeaver in action) Very picky race, can VERY easily have one element turned against another and have a war start within their own race. HalfWeavers are also not very loyal to each other. RageWeavers hate almost everyone. (Very hard for them to get along and fight as a team, you'll rarely see more than one element of Weaver in a fight at a time) Other:
Species Sheet Species Name:Weavers Appearance:They carry the features of what were considered angels. They have wings that expand as far as they have powers. Meaning you can tell how strong a Weaver is by their wings. They come in many breeds, skin/wing colors and their eyes tend to match their wings. The only exception is for Halfweavers(explained in other). Diet: Omnivore Biological weapons: Soulsword, a sword made out of a Weaver's life essence, will always match their wings(Again, Halfweaver exception). It can shoot beams of light/dark energy out and is also very useful for cutting things to shreds. Can form a shield around them with the same essence used by the Soulsword (Can never use both at the same time). But can also release their spirit from their body to fight alongside them as the element the host is. These are called 'Angels'. Rifts. Rifts are the easiest way for a Weaver to take over a planet. Only 4 elements of Weavers have rifts though, the strongest ones, the one's almost never used in battles. Darkweavers create rifts in the ground that unleash hordes of imps and a few daemons(different from demons) upon their target. Angelweavers create rifts in the air that release an army of Angels upon their enemies. HalfWeavers have ArkAngels as spirits and can also create both rifts (standard rifts like the Dark and AngelWeavers). RageWeavers can create Rifts that unleash nothing but Daemons. These Rifts may seem like an instant-death, but only the strongest Weavers in each of the 4 breeds can use these rifts. A single rift cannot be sustained for more than an hour at a time or else it will drain all power from the Weaver. If the Weaver is killed, the rift breaks apart and it's creations die. (You won't see these rifts used more than very occasionally due to the fact that the Weaver uses so much power to form them, it causes them actual pain to keep them sustained, so even the ones that can use them, HATE to use them, as they feel pain equivalent to a sword stabbed in their heart.) Other:A very diverse race, there is a breed of Weaver for every discovered element. The most powerful of the two are the HalfWeavers and the RageWeavers. You can consider them Athens and Sparta. HalfWeavers are a crossbreed of AngelWeavers and DarkWeavers. They tend to be the smartest, most strategic, and also very powerful Weavers. RageWeavers go off of pure strength and are extremely deadly. RageWeavers are definitely stronger, but a Halfweaver's tactics can win them the battle if it ever came to that. Their wings can be used to fly once they reach 2 feet long. They can expand to any length, as long as the Weaver is powerful enough. Normally fight by a code of honor. Such as, "If you're enemy is down. It is their choice to get back up. Never fight a battle where the opponent cannot fight back. Fight until death or surrender, or until all debts are payed." The strongest types are considered 'Gods' by other, weaker races. |

CSs Faction name:Vorx Species:Vorx Culture: (not required) Primary Weapons/Defenses technologies:Lots of Mechs, Vorx is based on quality over quantity, the most focused part of the army is the Mecha soldiers with mechs that range from 7-8 feet tall, it has a auto self-destruct that senses the user's heartbeat and if it stops the mech will self-destruct, the explosion isin't very big but close up it can deal alot of damage, when it is about to explode all nearby Vorx Mechs get a signal saying to move away, the mechs can transfer power to thier energy shields to make them stronger but that weakens all other functions and energy based weapons. Most commonly used Vorx defense is energy shields like the mechs have, but the bigger the shield the weaker it is and the more pwoer it requires to strengthen it. Advantages:From birth they are taught to love thier planet and have great loyalty to it, they don't die very easily becuase they have a very hard exoskeleton reinformed with body suits to further strengthen thier natural defenses. Disadvantages: Extreme loyalty and pride makes them foolish sometimes and they might make stupid choices, some military leaders are a bit too cautious and decide to take action too late. Other:The Vorx live on one massive planet surrounded by several small moons that they have colonised, only half of Vorx is completely colonised the other half contains many different non-sentient creatures, some scientists are attempting to train these vicious creatures and turn them into a weapon of war.
Species Sheet Species Name:Vorx Appearance:Like the predator in aliens vs predators, they have 4 arms, they have small tentacles on thier head which looks like hair but close up you can see what it really is, they have 5 fingers per arm, the fingernails of military personell are usually fitted with small knife-like things so they are lethal. Diet: Omnivore Biological weapons: Thier jaws are very powerful and can rip through thin metal, they can sense vibrations. (Not think metal that tanks have.)
Other:The Vorx are like a beast-like race morphed with humans, they have legs arms and seem like humans from far away but thier teeth are very sharp and long, they have extra arms, and they have a tail.
Unit sheet Name:Vorx Almighty Role: Flagship Armament:Dozens of small energy turrets all over the ship, inside DNA sensors constantly check your DNA and if it doesn't match what the system is installed with your done.... Large proton cannons, A very large cannon that fires a shockwave that disables entire ships for a short period of time, but it costs a great amount of energy to run the ship. Defense: Energy shields, Tubes that launch scrap metal around the ship to block enemy fire.

(A few things Nathaniel: 1. I classify souls under psionics in a sci-fi setting (refer to rule list) 2. I figured the lack of mention of magic would cover this but, as in keeping with almost every other sci-fi thread I've made, no magic
Sorry but I can't put accepted there)
(Spicey I need clarification, does your species just look like they're morphed with humans or did you mean they actually were?)
(I'm going to blow my plot chip here but it seems that for the understanding of the thread I need to. The unknown attacking race would be humanity. No one actually knows why humans are attacking and I'm not gonna blow that plot chip.)
(Now as this needs to be clarified: It is actually set in the real universe, about 1,000 years from now.) |

(Oh and as to photovore and chemovore A photovore is a light powered organism, if you've ever read Sentenced to Prism (wikipedia if you haven't) the associatives are photovores. It's more common in silicate organisms. Chemovores feed off of raw inorganic chemicals, like the bacteria in the deep ocean vents) |

(They're the main race in a book I'm writing. And I don't really consider it magic, more like natural abilities. Humans have the nautral abilities to imagine so many things, which leads to inventions, which leads to advancement at a faster pace than a lot of races.
It's just called a 'soul'. It's not actually a soul. Frankly I don't believe in souls. This is just another natural ability. They fight with swords formed from their life essence. Humans fight with fists and claws (if they don't cut them to be 'nails') and feet and everything. They make nuclear weapons. The Weavers have never even thought up WMDS.)

(I hereby change the rules to allow psionics, however psionics are still subject to all other rules.) (Do note, if I get a lot of powerful psionic races showing up I will compensate with WMDs other than nukes.) (Psionic healing is still disallowed.) |

The information is brought back to the Weaver Council, which contains of 1 DarkWeaver, 1 AngelWeaver, and 1 HalfWeaver.
"I told you these allies were all wretchedly WEAK! We should just leave this alliance and go be on our way. And then when these beings get to us, we destroy them!" The Darkweaver said.
The Halfweaver laughed. "You almost sound like a RageWeaver."
"Well it's true." The DarkWeaver said.
"We need to help our allies though! It seems as if these beings that are on their way here are very strong. And we're going to need everyone's help to defeat them." The Angelweaver said.
"We are Weavers! They should be doing what we say anyway, we shouldn't have to cooperate with them." The Darkweaver said.
"I say we stay allies and prepare for war." I said. "Whether for them or for us, there is something on it's way here. We aren't actual Gods I hope you realize. We need to stick by our allies, just as they'd stick next to us, and fight to defend ourselves from this threat." The HalfWeaver, named Resoula said.
"I agree." The Angelweaver, named Maximilian said.
"Fine. As long as we win. Once I see we're losing. I swear, I will do what needed to be done long ago." The Darkweaver, Joseph said.

(Btw. I weakened down the Weavers a lot for this rp. For the real Weavers, every Weaver could make a rift and unleash armies of elementals....then again, thats why the real weavers only ended up having 4 breeds. 3 of them being nearly extinct.)
The Weavers continued focusing all their wartime production into quality over quantity. They were glad to be in the back of Galactic space, if this was a deadly force, they'd get hit the last.

(word of warning: being at the other side does not guarantee safety, there is a lot of empty space in between stars.) The FTL signature disappeared back out of sensor range however a small cylindrical object had been left behind. |

(I know, that's their hopes though)
The Weavers detected the object and quickly sent a drone out to dispatch it, which they brought to a single ship in the middle of an asteroid belt to examine.

(I can't help you if you don't tell me what confuses you.) (I'll be leaving for a while, I will be back relatively soon (probably an hour or two.) The object appeared to be some kind of long range data transmitter. However the data was encoded in a level of depth rarely seen in the civilized galaxy. |

It was left in the ship to be studied and have it's code cracked, so incase it had a tracking beacon, they'd only find rocks and a single ship.
