You have no idea... How do 3D glasses work in a cinema then? They distort the image, with no effects to the screen.

No, you can use the clear glasses with a picture projected onto a white canvas, so you can do the same with a standard monitor. Just superimpose the images on to each other/distort them with the graphics engine, rather than using a monitor's facilities to do so.
