!!!LONG POST AHEAD. If you don't read it, don't post. This is a thread designed for intelligent discussion, not trying to buff your pointless little post count with unfunny jokes like "tl;dr". Such posts will be reported for spam!!
So today I decided to raid a base of which I will not name that is commonly dubbed "fair".
Because of the rise of whiners, entitlement and poor sportsmanship in the clan world, many leaders are being forced to make their bases "fair" (what an awful term. I'd prefer balanced but the common jargon says otherwise..) or else be subjected to said previously mentioned entitled whining.
Raiding the base, I took over and was completely and totally bored.
What most whiners don't get today is that winning a raid back in the day meant something. If you could take down those idiots with the carbines spawnkilling when you had a knife and you earned the carbines, you EARNED the carbines.
Raiding an unfair base keeps you on your toes. You know losing the base would cause a major setback because you're back to square one. Death in a fair base? Boo-Hoo. You never earned anything for owning the base, so who cares?
That's not to say fair bases shouldn't exist. Some people enjoy this different system.. this entire post is directed at the people that feel that EVERYONE should make their bases ALL to the current standard.
I'll give you an example of my raiding at VAK SMO today:
-We kill people with assault rifles -woo we have the base, too bad having it means nothing really -oh no, I've been killed. Not like I lost anything.
And one year ago during our x-101st Groundbase Franneh Raid:
-We are getting spawnkilled. We have weak pistols. -Spawnkillers stop to type, we act. We stack and run. We're all gunned down except for my friend who hid behind the fort. -Spawnkillers return to spawnkilling. Secretly, my friend is getting carbines. -OUT OF NOWHERE MY FRIEND GUNS DOWN THE SPAWNKILLERS -RAT Rushes in, takes the guns and contains control. -We lose half our men due to a guarding failure. No fear, we fixed it (but it was an intense battle) -After being on our toes for nearly 5 hours, RAT won.

In these days, people didn't rely on technicalities for their wins. They didn't try to resort to text and rules to justify why they win. They knew the true definition of victory - despite abuse, cheap tactics or underhanded tricks, they prevailed.
What I'm trying to get to you is simple-
Stop complaining. Making an excuse, resorting to pulling out that rulebook, insulting how "fair" a base is.. it's not victory. It's pathetic, it's childish, and it's the reason why this is all going downhill.
While I may be looking through rose tinted glasses, I've tried my hardest to look at facts and common human behavior.. common ideals and beliefs outside this silly game as well.
Earn your victories - don't whine over them.
Because in the end, putting all opinion aside and looking at pure fact:
If this pattern continues, Victory will mean absolutely nothing.

@shadow
Winning there is pointless. No challenge. It's not worth bragging. If you can win there once you can win there every time - no circumstance involved. |

I entirely agree with the thread. But, it is still possible to enforce rules, so things do not get out of hand. (I would not declare victory, I would only punish offenders for a short time)
Making fair warzones and one sided forts, is a better idea than just one or the other. In reality, two foes often meet on the field of battle, in a clearing, or a town. Sometimes one force will attack another's fortress. You should expect an unfair base. I know some APN bases have given raiders a fort, jeeps and guns before. Fort Bobotheman did something similar. It does not look like a fort if the raiders have a fort.
It would be nice if we saw the same type of warfare I saw just a year ago. Sadly, I doubt one thread could make any change. Props for trying. |

| Nothing wrong with bragging if you actually did something worth bragging about and don't make it a constant habit. |

| Well, this is all true, and I agree, except on that was a long post. People should really stop whining about fair bases, they should start whining about SKers. Lol. |

Too bad we cant live those golden memories anymore...

| Donkey, you have to know, that it's sorta hard to fight SKers, unless they are typing. Which they hardly do, since they have nothing to say, except that who they are SKing are noobs. |

The old APN Rec used to be a place you would see spawnkilling with carbines often. -_-
There was a way in by piling up on a tree, and attempting to reach the inside of the base for safety. It was a challenge to reclaim that base if lost.
I remember a time I told a TRA member in a shuttle I would help in against VAK or something. Both were enemies with us, he let me in, I regenerated his shuttle to push him outside, and held the base alone until help came.
I helped defend the fort, just not with an enemy armed with a carbine standing next to me, :p
People complained less then. |

@Sgt
I'm not trying to speak for him, but, he isn't condoning SK'ers, he is just saying how it was hard to defeat them, but the rewards were good enough...

| @Killer Well, not that true, I remember SKing at several RAT bases, once I took them, there isn't such a reward. The point is, you just have a base. I lost my chances of earning Bloxxer because of RAT SKers. |

| @ Colour Don't blame me, blame Lordnathan. I had no choice to add carbines in Franneh. But, I did prevent X-101st from SKing. |

I Agree raids are so boring now especially when you have to wait 30 minutes to win a raid (IL).Raids were funner back then cause you both had the same guns. The raiders could get the other teams guns. But now you have all these scripts which give teams diffrent guns so it ain't fun anymore. |

I agree with CT.
If you don't like the way people make their places, then why raid?
Of course I tried to make things sort of balanced in my old HQ and yet have it fair at the same time.
At my old base before I disbanded it:
*If we shut the fort door on you, you could do an easy parkour session and easily get your members in.
*Wanted to win the raid? Then all you had to do is shut the button door behind you and take the Throne Room for about 45 minutes.Sure you can easily get through with my trick I found out, but yet it's better than going through our defences and trying to make it to the top floor. |
