If you are having trouble making good cars, this thread was made just for you. I, as the CEO and founder of Roblox's second largest car company, will teach you the basics.
1. Wheels Wheels are a very important part of the car, obviously. First, take a ball, make it plastic, make all the sides smooth, but add a hinge to one of them, then put a cylinder mesh in it. Now you don't have those annoying "X" decals. Try using decal rims, also.
2. Basic body Blockmesh, blockmesh, blockmesh. Add blockmeshes to the parts of your car that are in the shape of a block. You won't see welds, studs, inlets, or anything on its surfaces except decals, hinges or motors if you add them.
3. VehicleSeat properties Set the properties on the VehicleSeat to how you like them. Bigger cars usually require a higher torque to move, and small cars should have lower torques for a smoother ride. Choosing the MaxSpeed is up to you, but 100 is pretty reasonable. If you really know what you're doing, you can create a transmission system.
4. WedgeParts WedgeParts are helpful in making windows and basically anything on your car, because you can make on fit right next to the other.
5. Details, details Adding details to a car is always a good thing. Like door handles, mirrors, a steering wheel, headrests, the list goes on and on. Keep in mind that the more parts you add, the heavier your car becomes and it adds to the total brick count of the game causing your computer to slow down, or, I really hate using this word, lag.
6. Painting Painting the exterior of your car is pretty simple, but there's a good tip to doing this. If you want your car to look fresher, make the parts have a little bit of reflectance, maybe about 0.2. Painting the interior is just as simple, but keep in mind that neutral colors, like black, white, brown, and grey, can flow better with the exterior color.
7. Materials Using blockmeshes for everything can make the car bland. Make some parts wooden, or even use the concrete texture to make the seats look like they're made of cloth and to make the carpet of the car.
8. The engine Making the engine of the car is pretty optional, but if you really want to go the extra mile for detail, you can use WedgeParts and cylinders to make a nice V-shaped engine.
9. The width Although this is widely debated between car builders, width size is not a standard. I build my cars twelve studs wide, other people build them six studs wide. I personally think that there is no "perfect" width size as long as it has a good ratio with the length and height.
10. Scripts If you want to make cars realistic like I do, scripts are your friend. I use scripts to make the lights illuminate when the driver brakes, to change the gear of the car with the click of a button, and to do many other things.
I hope this guide has helped you. If you want to build cars for my company, join AJ's Engines. |

| Cool thread, could you explain the use of wedge parts a little better to me though "so they can fit right next to another" or something like that didn't really make sense to me, can't all bricks fit right next to each other? |

| @Killjoy You can't put two parts with a wedge mesh inside of each other. WedgeParts help a lot with A and C pillars and offsetting it with a wedge mesh makes the car look scratchy. |

I have no idea what you just said. Probably because I've never really messed around with meshes, maybe I will now that I have something to refer to, thanks.
Also, is there a way I can save this thread for future reference? |

| I've never CFramed a single vehicle of mine because they over-complicate things and cause build problems. |

I made a coach but it's not steering. It's quite big. COme to my place to see it. 150 Speed. A lot of seats. Toilet. Sink. Trunk It has a normal seat. Should I raise the torque lower the speed or change the turnspeed? |

Problem: "3. VehicleSeat properties" I can't anchor my VehicleSeat because then it will be all weird like sit weird, etc. I heard about welding it, and I tried that, but then it moves around because it didn't work. This is really hard. :/ I also need to add in OTHER seats because it is going to be like a van. Also, when I put the driver seat (VehicleSeat) in, it just moved around and also wouldn't drive. I want my car not to be all legoish. I want it to be smooth. This is a real issue for me. :/ |
