hi it's me again, the man behind the successful weather and vb stadium petitions.
I'm here today to recommend the demolition of OCFA, and replacing it with OFDL.
OCFA was started like, s6 of OFL. At the start it had a few good things going for it, but it has just slowly not getting out good prospects. There have been like, 3 relevant people to come out of OCFA in the last three seasons with Draft Prep.
Problems with OCFA: -It's bad -It doesn't adequately allow people to learn how to play OFL in it -Nobody in OFL cares about OCFA -Not an easy way for people capable for OFL to get into OFL -Anything you do in it means literally nothing to OFL -Draft prep was mostly ignored by OFL this season
I propose we go the hockey route, and get a farm league. This would be OFDL. The full 20 teams. Every team in OFL gets a farm team they run. The HC of the OFL team assigns someone to effectively HC the OFDL team. They would also get to send another OFLer down to the league to help run/train the prospects. The OFL team could then call up a certain amount of players and send down a certain amount of players. This would need to be done by a certain day of the week, say, Friday at midnight pacific. These players would then be able to only play for that team that week.
Pros: -Teams can select their players -Teams can train newer players in farm league -Normal benchies in OFL can actually play to win something. -Allows potential future HCs to develop within a system -Hopefully allows for more oversight of the ref functions of the league, unlike what is current in OCFA. -Place to experiment with new ideas/rules.
Cons: --Need HCs who will actually stay -Messy ---Potential lack of players (this can be solved by merging with some of the smaller leagues around)
I'd like to mention the first con in specifics. This season we have 6 returning HCs. That is a little low. But what's noteworthy: We have 4 new HCs. Which means 16 of the current HCs have HC'd before.. The key would simply be keeping these people on the teams. (let's be real though era can run a team so it'd effectively be 17)
An alternate of this system could be to do 16 teams, and only with HCs who actually want to take part.
This entire system can be fleshed out more if need be, but let's be real, this probably won't happen, but it ought to be discussed before new talent effectively gets fully cut off. Discuss.

TheKing, you would join OFL Draft Prep and attempt to get drafted. Albeit draft prep for this season is done now. So joining OCFA would be the logical step

Let's just keep the amount of people in OFL as it is and let no one else join. LIKE RFL

Shorten it to 10 teams, and just allow anyone to drop down and come back up.

See ##### that defeats the purpose of development. You would have drop down filled teams battling it out to "win" if I remember correctly the purpose of ocfa is to develop and that's why this season of ocfa is garbage compared to the others that ive been in and have heard about.

good idea on paper but it'll take away from ofl and it'll grow irrelevant after 2-3 seasons just like ocfa and draft prep both did, also it requires a lot of extra effort that most teams just wont care enough to take the time to do it

yeah moxx I completely disagree that it would take away from OFL.
the other points are harder to disagree with though. I simply felt this should be discussed because, yknow, we are running out of talent.
Gotta consider radical options |

1: Wrong
2: Wrong
3: Eh, that's bull-headed people following a meme cause they're too dull to learn.
4: That'd be all OFL coaches that don't know how to coach, actually.
5: 50-50, again that'd be called a time an effort thing that coaches in OFL need to learn how to involve OCFA, complaining and saying it's bad but not even giving it any thought to how to actually involve OCFA< only hurts yourself and makes no chance as to how any of your actual suggestions would do, well anything.
6: Again, that's on OFL.
If you're going to call OCFA bad, for a lack of involvement, and then purpose something that REQUIRES involvement, then why don't you actually just learn how to be smart, and involve the first part.
Learn how to use something before you throw it away for a more time wasting project.

Classic OFL ego strikes again. This topic of "get rid of OCFA" keeps coming up and dying out. Good luck trying to get rid of it for good. Otherwise, feel free to feed your own egos you African children are hungry for.
