What is the best way to update a game without having to shut the game down?

Merely's soft shutdown? it tps them to a private server, and then back to the game and you 99% of the time wont lose any players

Another thing that I like to do; Use DataStore's to send a message to all the servers that the game is shuttingdown. |

I guess you could make the game into a model and use insert service when the current game is no longer the most updated one and replace everything with the new model.

I'm asking this questuin because I've seen Cindering do it. A message was sent to the players that the game was going to update a timer was then shown on how long before the update, once the timer hit zero everyone was teleported to the update servers and this did not require shutdowning of the game so I'm wondering how exactly was that done?
