Our doctrine is comprised of historically accurate maneuvers and all authentic weapon usage.
WEAPON COMMANDS-I Perform the commands on the "trigger word" of the command. For example, "Shoulder," "Arms." The command would be performed on the "Arms"
Naturally, your weapon is held at the shoulder. L- Support Arms (Marching) N- Right Shoulder Shift (Marching) H- In Place Rest (Resting, drilling) G- Right Shoulder (Switching arms) K- Trail Arms (Marching) J- Port Arms (Inspection) B- Fix Bayonet (Melee Combat) X- Transition to Melee When issued the command "At the route step" You are permitted to hold your musket however you'd like
To fire the musket, the process is this: Left click to ready Right-click to aim Left click to fire
FIRING COMMANDS-II
If a firing condition is not defined, it is a Volley Fire. This is when all men in the rank fire their muskets forward in one single sheet.
Fire by File, from the Left/Right This maneuver, falsely known as "Ripple Fire", is when from one direction of the line, a shot is taken, and the person to their side fires and the cycle continues. After a Fire by File, 3 independent shots are authorized, unless ordered to cease fire. Once the 3 shots are completed, you return to shoulder.
Independent Fire/Fire at Will Firing shots at whatever, whenever, until you're told to cease.
Obliques When you're commanded to aim at the "Right/Left Oblique" you will turn your aim to whatever side that is.
MOVEMENT COMMANDS-III
Faces Fairly self-explanatory, turn to face the direction you're ordered. Center face is to the front, About face is to the back.
Form two ranks Move to form two equally sized, parallel lines.
To the rear in open order. The rear rank will step back to the NCO's position. Usually only used for an inspection or guard.
Deploy Skirmishers The line will divide from the centermost person to the corresponding sides into intervals of 5. Once the skirmishers are deployed in their intervals, independent fire is authorized, and after every shot, they move forward 5 paces. Skirmishing is usually done from a crouched position. When the command is given to reform, they will close ranks.
AFTERWORD-IV That's the basics of the IFR doctrine. Things are set to change, but I hope this teaches everyone how to perform commands, and eliminates confusion. Best Wishes! |
