In your own opinion, what makes ROBLOX the better choice over its competitors? Why has ROBLOX survived so long in the gaming genre?

However most new players ignore that, sadly

Who knew such a simplistic idea could make a huge impact right?

Well for starters, it doesn't really have any competitors anymore.

The biggest one has to be a constant stream of updates. The ROBLOX team is constantly working to improve and update ROBLOX. Whether it be simplifying the layout to make it easier to understand for younger players, or adding huge updates for developers. The one competitor that ROBLOX used to have literally gets no updates and is ran through Steam. Along with that, it is quite difficult to get running.

I think the huge leap in players over the last few years is ROBLOX's efforts to listen to developers. They do this through the devforum and it has really paid off. Developers are now able to make better and more advanced games, which have an easier time bringing in a large amount of returning players.

When they started paying the developers, everything changed. Smartest thing they've done in the past 10 years.

I had not heard of that game until now, so their advertising isn't that great. Though I could be at fault here for never viewing ads if they have any.

Upon looking at the game, it seems to be just another ROBLOX knockoff. I've seen plenty of these pop up over the years and they never seem to takeoff or go anywhere until they shutdown.

The biggest contributing factor for the demise of these websites is that they never have any sort of gameplay. Every single one I've seen except one had their games page under maintenance indefinitely. Without any sort of gaming entertainment, it is nigh impossible for the games to bring in a stream of paying customers. The majority of these customers are usually not interested in the market or forums of the website.

they used to attract people by having a cool, fun game and by listening to the community

now they mainly just run off hype and do a lot of damage control updates, all public opinion be damned

they try to cater to fads and memes, now they're just an unfeeling corporate giant

the game used to bring something new to the table, back when it was about building, now it's about making sure high paying devs get all the attention from roblox and making sure newer players play the devs' games

@EatenCake

I find your points to be highly biased against ROBLOX.

However, ROBLOX is ruining itself from the inside. ROBLOX needs to understand the media will keep attacking it no matter what. Best thing they can do is try to hold on to as many users as possible, whilst ignoring the media. Attempts to stop ###### ###### can only be ended by banning the users. ROBLOX has done well, so far. Let's hope it can stand back up and survive the media's onslaught.

At the rate Roblox staff is going, there won't be a roblox to speak of

Staff listens to no one, deletes threads for no reason, over all just annoying and immature.

I apologize.

Though I could digress and say that he's deriving away from the original topic. Though as you said, it is his opinion.

No joke. Rest in peace roblox. I'm gonna guess at this rate, maybe a few years or so to deteriorate?

"I find your points to be highly biased against ROBLOX. "

i was on their side for years, until they started trying to sweep everything about old roblox under the rug like it never existed

they made dozens of scriptbreaking updates just so they can say that they do updates

they let old games, even games made and sponsored by roblox, implode their own scripts and break beyond repair

they don't listen to anyone in the community, the only time a mod posts is to reprimand someone, and it's never even someone who really needs to be reprimanded

most of the roblox staff has all communication disabled so there's no way to contact anyone

info@roblox is borderline useless on a good day

they push memes and try and milk fads way past their expiration date

it's not a bias, it's me looking at what they're currently doing and comparing it to what they used to do

a lot of people have quit because of roblox's new attitude about their community ### ### #### still flock here with walmart cards regardless, so nothing's gonna change i've given up trying to see roblox as the fun, sarcastic, friendly company i grew up with they're just another corporate giant now, so they act like one as long as the cash flow is steady, they'll just keep changing random crap and calling it progress to keep younger players happy

Haha.

I think it is the appeal to multiple audiences, as well as said before, regular updates and events.

It used to be a tragic thing when there was any sort of update, but most everyone stayed because there is a community.

Being able to discuss what you think with other players, very easily, is super important.

I don't exactly think they're trying to sweep away old Roblox. They're just doing updates that change the game, which is needed if they hope to sustain their business.

The script breaking is a common thing in programming, as old technologies become deprecated with time.

It's unfortunate that the old games made by Roblox themselves don't work anymore, though that also is unavoidable with time. The ones that they shutdown did not have FilteringEnabled, and Roblox no longer has a games team to update the games. They shut 'em down so they would no longer be representing games that could be hacked and have bad stuff shown to younger users.

I agree that the forum situation is really unfortunate. Though if you're actually pretty adamant about making changes to the site, perhaps you could try working your way up to the DevForums? They listen very thoroughly to the players there as those forums uphold a good standard of quality.

Once again, I apologize about calling you out for bias.
