Yeah, I've decided it's now time to learn this subject.
Add me on discord if you want the offer.
Paying 5K - 10K based on how much you teach me.
Going "SOHCAHTOA" isn't going to help.
I already know the basics of that.
I'm interested in learning how to CODE trigonometry from BEGINNER to ADVANCED.
I already know how to make a part rotate around your character in a circular motion.
DISCORD: scripting #4162
Add me if you can teach me how to CODE trigonometry with ROBLOX LUA.
*MUST PROVIDE A DETAILED TUTORIAL WITH MUTLIPLE EXAMPLES*
*PAY WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AFTER I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT YOU'VE TAUGHT ME A DECENT AMOUNT OF TRIGONOMETRY.*
*I CAN PROVIDE PROOF OF ROBUX*
*ADD ME ON DISCORD IF YOU'RE SERIOUS, IF NOT GET OUT*
kthxbye |

| Not actually going to teach you how to do Trigonometry on Roblox cause I am not nearly active enough on roblox no ####### ### you can go onto roblox wiki and search 2D Collision Detection. The first part of it has nothing to do with trigonometry and it is very simple but it goes onto how to detect the collision in rotated objects, and once you do this try to figure out how to make collision with a circle instead of a square. There isn't really to much use of trigonometry in Roblox other than extremely basic things like you said, an object circling around the player. Want to learn more about scripting? I really just need someone who knows the concept fully.
I can't rely on the wiki for a subject like this.
Still looking for someone who's got the concept down. |

Eh, the wiki is always helpful. No shame in looking to it for answers. I know a lot about trigonometry in Roblox lua but as I mentioned, I am no longer active on Roblox and i'm doubting I would be around often enough to help you out, besides I am not a teacher in the scripters group for a reason

Ah, alright. I have checked a lot of pages on the wiki, the only thing is that they do a somewhat poor job of explaining.
What I always question is when would I use sin? When would I use cos? And same for the other functions. |

This wiki page is actually pretty well explained, it does assume you have previous scripting knowledge of course and some knowledge of trigonometry which you said you did. Most of the time you will need to refer to SOHCAHTOA to determine which one to use, sometimes it doesn't even matter which you use.

| 'code trigonometry' lol? you don't code math, you apply it whenever it's necessary. there is usually a simple way of doing things in terms of applying math anyways. |

Also you may already know this but atan, asin, and acos are the inverse functions and tanh, sinh, and cosh are the hyberbolic functions

Eh I just assume he meant "Using trigonometry in roblox." But your statement is very true.

Just search 2D collision roblox on google and you should find it right away, scroll down a bit and you'll find lots on trigonometry and goes over separating axis theorem

Have you tried khan academy or just getting a book on trigonometry?

If you are struggling to understand the trig. on the wiki(s), your best bet is to use a third source such as khan academy which I seriously recommend.
And then challenge yourself by actually doing the questions. This won't exactly "help" you code it on roblox. It'll just give you somewhat better intuition for it and other branches of mathematics which incorporates it.
You also do not need to know all of trig (such as trig formulas to reduce to simpler forms).
The main goal is to solve stuff involving triangles which goes very far for the sake of geometrical application.
Of which some main topics include: SOHCAHTOA, Cosine rule, Sine rule, General understanding of angle-side relations and understanding of the ratio. Application to problems in physics/ graphics (such as creating a circle.)
After you get the jist of those, just practice some general 2D geometry (and perhaps 3D) until you develop intuition for that. e.g. How do I create a triangle which fits inside a circle? If I rotate such a triangle, will it ever go outside the circle?
Then after that, move onto vectors and the dot product which will be somewhat aided by your understanding of trig.
Once you move onto vectors, it's at this point that you can really begin applying as manipulating vectors is extremely useful.
Combine this with asking questions when stuck and you're set. |

Khan Academy is the best source for this. I think they actually have a course dedicated to trigonometry all by itself.

If your school hasn't started teaching you trigonometry yet, then you might not be ready to learn.
There is a reason why the school teaches math subjects in a specific order, so trying to learn trigonometry when you don't have a solid foundation in basic mathematics will make it difficult or practically impossible for you to understand.

I don't need 3rd sources such as what you're suggesting. I need someone with high level of expertise in trig that can teach me orally.
Spending hours watching videos on the subject doesn't show me how I can use it in ROBLOX.
Trust me, I've tried it. Learning the subject is helpful but doesn't teach how to use it in ROBLOX. |
